"I see why you never desired to ride another's dragon, princess." Aemond chuckled as he landed Vhagar on their island by the cliffs, watching her twirling between her two dragons in the sands. She spun around with a wide smile, waving him down to her. He nodded as he dismounted from Vhagar and made his way down to her.

He stopped with a good bit of distance between them, taking in the size of both beasts that eyed him curiously. She was in between both their heads, softly whispering to them both.

"Come, they won't hurt you. You have my word." She nodded. Vermithor grumbled, making her turn completely to him. "I said no. Not today."

Vermithor gave a pout of a sigh as she walked up to Aemond, taking his hand and slowly leading him to Silverwing instead. She could feel the sweat building in his palm and she gave his hand a reassuring squeeze.

"Here." She raised his hand to Silverwing's snout, placing her hand over his. Silverwing was calm as she lowered her head into the sands. "This is-."

"Silverwing." He cut her off. She looked up at him with a small smile and nodded.

"Silverwing...and this stubborn brat..." She led him slowly to Vermithor, whose mouth was open just enough for them to see his teeth clenched tightly together as he let out a low growl. "Either behave or go home and Silverwing can get all of my attention instead."

Silverwing's head poked up, almost like she was excited about being the center of Daena's attention. Unfortunately for the shedragon, Vermithor closed his mouth and sighed. Aemond eyed her curiously as she scolded the bronze beast like a child. He'd never seen a bond like this before, especially with two dragons.

"This is Vermithor." She whispered as she placed Aemond's hand against the bronze scales. "He's quite protective of me. Do not take it personally."

Aemond just smiled down at her, not even phased by the beast he was touching. She met his gaze finally, not realizing how close their bodies were to each other. For once his eye didn't hold disgust or hatred for her. She almost didn't know what the twinkle in his eye was, but it was enough to make her pull their hands away and separate.

Vermithor and Silverwing flew away, hovering above their island. Daena smiled up at her two dragons with her arms crossed, feeling free for the first time in her life.

"How long?" Aemond finally asked.

"About four years now...only Daemon knew." She answered.

"Why keep it a secret? Especially for so long, I don't understand." He tilted his head as she side eyed him.

"A few reasons...I did not wish to upset my mother and Daemon..." She rolled her eyes with a dry laugh as she turned to face Vhagar, who had just flown away from the cliffs and disappeared into the skies. "Daemon worried about that one."

"Vhagar? Why?" He narrowed his eye as she turned back to him with a somber look on her face.

"He worried I would return to King's Landing to settle your debt." She said plainly. His jaw clenched as he straightened up with his arms behind his back.

"I see." His voice was stern, understanding of what was about to happen. But she returned to looking up at her dragons as they continued their roars above. "Two against one...that hardly seems like a fair fight."

"As well as five against one." She glanced over at him, seeing his mouth drop slightly. She smirked to herself. "Daemon knows me better than almost anyone in the realm, yet has no idea as to what it is I truly want from that night."

"And what is that?"

"Answers." She finally turned to face him as he cocked his head in confusion. "What happened that night?"
