***Super excited for what I've got planned! As each chapter goes on, some Aemond and Alicent perspectives are gonna be introduced🤭Unfortunately so will some other unfortunate characters👺but enjoy my loves!****
"I don't know, Alicent. What if this doesn't work?" Rhaenyra paced back and forth in the queen's chambers. Alicent sat comfortably on the couch, casually sipping her evening tea. "He wasn't even at supper nor did my daughter seem to notice."
"It'll work, I promise. If my son and your daughter wish to be stubborn, then perhaps a little push will do." Alicent smirked, but Rhaenyra just looked at her baffled.
"And what if nothing comes of it? Your son is married to another not of his choosing." Rhaenyra joined Alicent's side, though was more stiff compared to the queen's unusually casual position with her feet on the table. "Is that really what you'd wish for Aemond after all he has endured?"
"Rhaenyra, do you remember what happened when you were told you were being forced to marry another?" Alicent turned towards the princess with a small grin. Rhaenyra returned a blush, but relaxed slightly. The queen took the princess' hands and sighed with contemptment. "If there is anything I have learned about your family is that they do not like when something has been taken from them. I'd imagine your daughter would be no exception...nor would my son."
"Yes, that's precisely my point." Rhaenyra chuckled.
"It'll be perfect. I will inform my son of his betrothal to Lady Baratheon and you will..." Alicent trailed off, unsure of exactly who Rhaenyra had in mind.
"Oh, seven hells, I wouldn't know...especially after everything I've learned of my daughter this week." Rhaenyra's grin grew when she thought more about what Daena told her of her duel with Cole. Daemon had told Daena the truth of everything with Cole and she still defended her mother's honor. And the joy she felt was indescribable when she watched her daughter on dragonback of not one, but two dragons.
"Might I make a suggestion?" Alicent arched an eyebrow. Rhaenyra nodded. "Lord Cregan Stark is not much older than her and I've heard quite the tales of what a warrior he is. If any of the eligible lords arriving tomorrow would infuriate my son enough, it would be him. Or Daeron."
"Daeron is coming as well?" Rhaenyra's eyebrows raised as she remembered her youngest sibling. She remembered Aemond and Daeron never quite got along. Daena and Daeron never really spoke much, but at some point Aemond, at 8 years old, stormed into his father's chambers demanding his youngest brother be sent to Old Town. Rhaenyra never learned the reason why, but she did know the very next day Daeron was gone. No one ever truly knew the truth of why he left, but all anyone remembered was the king couldn't even look at his youngest son as he left. "Should I be concerned?"
"Oh, gods no, Nyra. Daeron adores Daena, it's Aemond who can't seem to get along with his brother. Either of them." Alicent rolled her eyes, laughing to herself. "Notice Aegon's eye earlier this week?"
Rhaenyra furrowed her eyebrows, vaguely remembering the bruising around her half brother's eye from her last supper with him. "What of it?"
"Aemond was not particularly approving of Aegon's 'openly disrespectful act against his marriage with their niece' as he tried to put it the other day." Alicent noticed the worried look on her friend's face and quickly clarified. "Oh, no. No, do not worry. Aegon had apparently kissed Daena and she kneed his...male region..."
Rhaenyra's jaw was floored as Alicent stammered through the end.
"And just this morning, Aegon was quick to ask his brother at breakfast why he prevented his betrothal to Daena." Alicent's face lit up fondly. "You should've seen how red my son turned. He nearly snapped."
