"Please, Silverwing! Take me back to my mother! She needs me!" Daena pleaded in front of Silverwing's snout, stomping her foot with tears streaming down her blotchy cheeks.

But Silverwing just gave a whine and shook her head no.

"Oh, you stubborn dragon! Fine! I will swim back myself! Watch me!" Daena huffed with another stomp, making her way towards the ocean. But she stopped right where the water grazed the edges of her slippers.

She stopped, looking over at the ships off in the distance by King's Landing then to the open waters on the other side. The open waters didn't lead anywhere near Dragonstone and she didn't quite trust anyone to help her find a ship if she was drenched, dressed as royalty, and without a weapon.

With a loud groan, she turned back to her faithful creature and shouted. "You fucking take me back to my mother right now!"

But Silverwing just blew a puff of air at Daena's face, blowing her curls behind her. The dragon let out a small whine, almost like a laugh at her fuming rider. She'd missed her princess.

She'd missed her mate. It was a heavy pain the shedragon carried from the moment Vermithor's heart stopped beating with hers.

It was a pain the beast only slightly understood.

It was a pain her rider felt constantly in her heart, even if the girl would never say it out loud.

Silverwing now understood what it was like to lose her mate. Just as her rider had felt since the moment she'd heard news of Lucerys' death.

Silverwing let out a soft whine, nudging her snout towards her frustrated rider. It was a comfort she offered. One Daena needed more than she thought.

"Don't look at me like that...I need to go home...I can't stay here there's...there's nothing left for me here." Daena's voice started with so much volume, but slowly fizzled out when she felt the cracking in her heart.

It hurt. Everything hurt. She couldn't stand it for one more second. She dropped to her knees and looked up at her dragon with hopeless eyes.

"Please...just make it stop..." She whispered her plea.

Just end this hurt.

Silverwing snapped up, eyes blinking furiously down at Daena. She took off above to the skies, refusing to carry out the order the princess was about to beg from her.

Thump.

Daena didn't even turn to see who it was. She recognized that landing from anywhere. She'd heard it so many times the many days she'd find herself waiting for a certain prince in her dance lessons.

"Daena!" Aemond shouted after her as he practically jumped from Vhagar and ran towards her. Vhagar disappeared moments later, keeping distance from the silver beast circling above the island.

He reached his hand out to grab her shoulder, but she quickly turned and swatted his hand away. She snapped to her feet, screaming so loud her voice cracked. "Don't fucking touch me! Don't you ever touch me! How fucking dare you!"

"You remember...everything, don't you?" He stepped towards her, focused solely on the one thing rattling around in his head.

"Yes, I fucking remember everything! EVERYTHING! How could you do this?! TO ME?! Of all people, you choose to hurt me! Why?! What did I ever do to you to deserve any of this?!" She shoved him with each sentence, crying and shouting the entire time.
