chapter 5: a new friend ( part 2).

"Oppa, what are you doing here!?" She asked excitedly. " Hey, Haley. How are you doing?. Haven't met in a while," He said. I was just watching those two interacting as they knew each other very well. " Wait, u guys, know each other, Hale how do you know him?" I asked. Ignoring my question Haley replied him, " Yeah I was actually busy with the project ,Mr Lee gave me but thanks to ur notes u have given me, I have finished it on time and gonna submit it on Tuesday. But how do u know, my sugar boo? She asked, keeping a hand on my shoulder, keeping me close to her. " We actually met at a cafe, few months back, ur sugar boo forget her vallet while studying at library?" He said looking at me with amusing gaze.
Ignoring his gaze, I asked" But how do you guys know each other? Hale, u said he helped you in your project. U are in same class or what? . Cutting off Haley he answered, "actually I'm her senior , we are just in same major, I'm also studying acting and it's my last year. I met with Haley a few months back as she was assigned for a project and I was the in charge of it. That's how we hit it off. Anyways I have just few months left in uni. But how do u know guys each other?" He asked . Haley replied while hugging me, did I tell you, she's very clingy when it's comes to her favorite person. " She's my best friend/roomie." She said.

" Okie thats enough for introduction, now can we please go and have some ice cream, Hale u were whining like a kid for a ice cream before and let's treat ur friend as he helped me enough " I said taking few steps towards ice cream shop, as they followed me. I was thinking about his friend he said, he was going to meet, then why he's here, instead of going his GIRL friend. I know he didn't say that she's his girl friend but idk why but I felt something odd. While I was in my thought, I heard them talking about university and other stuffs, while following me . They seems very close . I was watching Haley as how she was confident and free spirit with him, he was also looking comfortable with her. When we reached there I bought three ice creams for us. As it was my treat. " As we were eating, I felt his eyes on me, as insecure as I am. I thought he might be judging me for eating something high calories despite being overweight. So I asked irritatingly, " What? " . He said straightforwardly, " U are cute.. " I was shocked as I wasn't expecting that. "U are right , she's the cutest human being " Haley said . " Stop it Hale, don't need to be extra sweet already u have eaten enough sweet". I said being shy. Seo Jun was also smiling on that time and suddenly he gotta text which I assume was his friend so he put his phone back and said, " Hey guys, it was wonderful meeting you again, but I have to go now, my friend is waiting for me and thanks for the ice cream, I haven't eaten in years " . We also said our byes and walked to different directions.

On the way back home, Haley asked " So , SEO Jun oppa, was the hot Korean guy u met at cafe on that time? I love the way she say oppa in her Scottish accent. " Hey I didn't say hot, don't exaggerate it okie. It's true he helped me but the way he talk to me so friendly, I felt suspicious about him as the guy like him don't really interest in girls like me ",I said.

What do u mean girls like you, baby? Are degrading yourself again? She said angrily. "No I mean it's that I have been here nearly 6 months and nobody, specially guys didn't approached me in our university , I'm being chubby or Muslim made more difficult for them , girls are okay but guys u know very well, haven't you noticed how they treat us differently, just bcz of u are white . So yeah i find it hard to believe this very charming guy is being friendly to me, saying I'm cute. I don't want to make a fool of myself, Hale.

"Ohh, babe I know u right, there are some people who are racist, but not everyone is like that and seo Jun is such a nice guy. once , I was in university and it was getting late bcz I usually come at home by 8 pm. But on that day I got stuck with some work so there were some guys who were lil bit drunk and came to my class and begin to dragging me saying that I should join them, I was soo scared but on that time he came and saved me. I'm so grateful to him babe,if he didn't come on time, idk what would happen on that day. It was the first I met him.
So I can guarantee, he would never do anything to hurt you.

It was Tuesday, when , I and Haley was going to uni a lil bit earlier as I had some work and wanted to meet with TA. Since we came back I couldn't get that conversation out of my mind, me and Haley had. Idk but I felt so proud of seo Jun. I know we aren't friends or anything but still that guy was nothing but kind to me since we met. I think I should stop feeling uncomfortable around him.

As I went to the office, and discuss my work with TA. By one hour I had finished my work and went for my next class. It was 2 pm, when I realized I was hungry, so I text haley. That if we could grab something to eat together. She texted back that it would take her atleast 20 minutes to finish her class . So I should come to her building. I have never gone to there as Haley usually come to my building . But today it was me going there, knowing Haley wasn't the only one there .

When I arrived there. I texted Haley that I was waiting near the garden which is just outside of the class corridor. I was texting my brother, congratulating him about being a parent again but he was also happy. We were chatting about Ami was missing me and the twins not let her watching TV. God it felt home talking to him after so long, he was my best friend back home. We usually share everything. As I was in my zone I felt someone shadow then I look up and meet with those beautiful eyes. " Hi there, didn't know u were waiting for me here? " He said, with huge smile plastered on his face. " U know I'm here for Haley. " I said politely. As he means no harm. " Yeah I know, just kidding well, earlier u were smiling while u were texting , who was that, ur boyfriend?" He asked, bluntly.
" My brother, actually . He's having a baby so we were talking about that and for your information, I'm Muslim , so no dating!. " I said sternly. " Okie, how about being friends " ? He asked out of sudden I thought he gonna mock me but no, he just change the subject . " What, do want to be my friend? " . I asked feeling not sure. " Yeah , is that a problem? Haley's my friend and u are her friend, so why not ? " He said shrugging her shoulder. " What if I said no? Challenging him. " Then I would like to know the reason of rejecting my friendship." He said sincerely. I look up to his eyes, finding something that makes me feel that he's angry or intrigued but no, all I see sincereity. " Well the reason is that I'm not understanding why do you want to be my friend?" I said honestly. " That's all!?well the first time we met, I saw that how simple yet elegant u were, I have lots of foreigner here. But u were different from the beginning. U intrigued me and I have seen how Haley adores you, many people wanted to her friends but she never let them be her friend, they were just her classmates, nothing else. But with u, she's just so crazy about you. So I know that u would be a great friend and it wouldn't hurt to give my friendship a chance, so what say!?" He said taking out his hand for a shake . After listening , how he feels about this, I was really willing to give him a chance, I can trust him. Haley also assured me. So I hesitantly shake his hand saying " Okie, friends but u have to respect my boundaries, u can't touch me , not even a handshake, this time I shook your hand, not to embarrased you or anything but next time not even that. So now tell me, do you still want me to be your friend, even after all the restrictions? I asked smiling at him , knowing that he might back off but " Okie, I won't touch you or anything, so now we are friends right ? He said smiling really hard. I like his smiling face. Umm well tahreem don't be idiot," Yeah we are, now. " I said the returning the same smile. " What, am I hearing wrong ? U trying to steal my bestie, oppa? Haley came out and hugged me from behind. She asked him while wiggling her eyebrows. " Nope, sweety it's just I want tahreem to be my friend too. U have never looked more happier than now. So now I know the reason and wanted to be happy too" Hearing his word, I have never felt happier than that , either he's charmer or he just really kind .
