Harley’s P.O.V

I watched as Bonnie chased Beth around outside the front of the house with water guns. I turned to face Kalix and smiled. “How did you know Bonnie would give in to Beth?” I asked her curiously and she grinned. “You know Beth loves Bonnie to bits and Bonnie’s the same way. Therefore Beth was the perfect choice for a distraction because she loves being with Bonnie” Kalix explained and I just laughed. That explained so much. My daughter looked so defeated and I couldn’t blame her. She probably thought we all just didn’t care about her eighteenth birthday. But that couldn’t be further from the truth, we were just planning a surprise party, and it was hard to do when she was always around. “They grow up so fast don’t they” Kalix said a hint of sadness to her voice. I nodded. It didn’t seem two minutes since we were adopting Bonnie at the age of four. Now she was eighteen. That means its been fourteen years. It was madness. “I know what you mean” I said sadly. All we have to cling to is the fact that we raised them the best we could and we just pray now that they live happy lives with their own mates” she says sadly and I nod. I knew Zylen was dreading Bonnie meeting her mate. Even though we had another daughter, Ava who is six he still sees Bonnie as his little girl, so it will be hard for him to let her go so she can live with her mate. Because if her mate isn’t from our pack, that’s exactly what would happen. My heart clenched at this thought. I dreaded the day she would leave. I mean she’d been one of the most important parts of my life for fourteen years. Her absence would leave a gaping hole in my heart. That I was certain of.

The sound of a door slamming pulled me out of my trance. “Give it back! Its not even yours Luca!” Caleb shouted at his brother and I just rolled my eyes. Of the four children I had, these two were definitely the worst. They always fought and caused trouble, it seemed almost impossible to keep them in line most days. Like fighting with a brick wall. Pointless and useless. “Caleb! Luca! What is going on?” I demanded and they completely ignored me. Seriously you wouldn’t think I was their mother some days. Kalix shot me a sympathetic look before she disappeared to the back garden to help with the set up for the party. I rolled my eyes and stepped towards my fighting twins. I grasped hold of Luca and held him still as he struggled in my arms. Thankfully he hadn’t gotten all his wolf strength yet otherwise holding him would be impossible. When he realised he wasn’t getting away, I felt him sag in my arms. “Right. Now what is going on here?” I asked them and Luca looked at the floor and refused to meet my gaze when I turned him to face me. “Luca stole the present I was going to give Bonnie later. He claims it was his present to give to her! But it wasn’t he’s just stolen it because he hasn’t gotten her anything” Caleb said and I watched as Luca didn’t say anything. “Luca is this true?” I asked and he nodded sheepishly. “Well can you please give your brother the gift back. You should of said and we would have taken you to get something” I explained and he just sighed and handed Caleb back the teddy he held. “Now what do you say” I said and he sighed again. “Sorry Caleb” he muttered and I smiled ruffling his hair. “Good. Now Caleb, go and wrap the present up and get ready for tonight” I said and watched as he charged off happily. “Luca. Honey. You should of said something” I said softly to my silent sad looking son. “I’m sorry mummy” he said softly. The look on his face made my heart break. He looked so sad and young you wouldn’t think he was fourteen. “It’s okay Luca. I just wish you had said something” I said softly. “You’re always so busy with pack things though” he said sadly and my heart lurched. It was true I had been wrapped up a lot recently with helping Zylen with the recent Rogue problem. “I’m sorry sweetie. I didn’t mean to abandon you” I said softly and hugged him. “Its okay mummy I understand” he said hugging me back. I smiled at him. He was definitely the more understanding and sweetest one of the two. “Do you want to go get something for your sister?” I asked him. He nodded. “Okay. Come on we have time to slip out to the mall to grab her something” I said softly. He smiled and nodded as he grasped my hand. I smiled and pack linked Zylen to let him know where we were heading before we left. ‘Okay. Be safe’ he replied in my head. I smiled. ‘Always’ I replied before shutting off the link and walking out with my sweet son.
