Murphy had been laying there for what must have been hours but to him it felt more like days. He just laid there on the hard mattress staring at the ceiling realising he'd made a huge mistake.
He'd made it to the city of light, he'd followed the mad man Jaha against his better judgement acting on the sliver of hope that there was something better, somewhere where he'd fit in on this god forsaken planet and after torturous days of desert, watching his companions being blown up and trying to avoid the same fate himself, rowing through a lake infested with monsters he'd never even imagined, he'd ended up again where he started: alone.
Nothing had really changed he was still by himself just in a different place, but this time he couldn't just go to Bellamy to make everything all better, this time he was truly alone. Not that Bellamy had ever known of Murphy's true intentions, he'd been feeling himself growing closer to Bellamy, he'd considered him almost a friend, but there were moments were Murphy would catch himself wondering if maybe they could be more. Bellamy was gorgeous, dark brown curls hanging loosely around his face, cute freckles sprinkled across his nose. And his eyes, when Murphy looked into them he felt like Bellamy was piercing his soul, like he could see right through the younger boy. Murphy smiled into the dark, feeling the only happiness he'd gotten since finding the city of light. The happiness quickly faded as he recognised the fact he'd never see Bellamy again, he'd left without even saying goodbye. Water arose in his eyes "I need you" he whispered into the dark himself the only witness to the heart breaking truth, Murphy needed Bellamy, as much as he didn't want to admit he wanted Bellamy, he needed Bellamy. But Bellamy would never be here for him.
He wiped a tear that had escaped his eye sliding down his cheek leaving a stain through the dirt and blood caked to his face. He pushed himself up of the bed, he doesn't need Bellamy, he doesn't need anyone he bitterly thought to himself. He felt anger swell up inside him. He was angry, angry that he was so weak, angry that he had left without thinking about it first, but most of all angry that he was so terrified of everything. "Fuck" he spoke as the tears began the pour down his face, without warning.
"Fuck" he screamed as he threw the glass of liquor at the wall, shattering it. He cringed as he did it, his arm still in terrible shape
"Damn it" he ripped the bottom of his shirt making a makeshift sling for his mangled arm, it wasn't much but it was the best he could do for now. But his arm was hardly the biggest issue on his mind, he'd left all the people he'd ever known behind and as shitty as it was, the arch, was his home and of course he'd left that to, but for what? He'd survived everything that was thrown at him for what? What did he have now besides from a bottle of liquor and his own thoughts.
Just as Murphy stepped outside the bedroom, he heard a faint noise, at first he thought he'd imagined it, his mind had been doing some pretty weird stuff lately, but as he heard it again he knew that it was real, but it wasn't so much the noise that scared him but what he knew would follow. He could hear someone walking and the sound was getting closer. Someone was in the building with him, he backed up into the bedroom again. Snatching his knife from where he'd left it on the bedside table, he walked as quietly as he thought was humanly possible he hid behind the door as he heard the steps of the intruder approaching the bedroom. Pushing himself up against the wall he could only hear the solid thuds of the intruders boots on the ground as whoever it was entered the room, in the darkness Murphy couldn't see there face but could see just enough to notice that it was a man, knowing it was his last chance Murphy pounced on the man good arm slung around the intruder, pressed against him, he let the cold sharp steel of the knife bite into the mans neck
"Stop Murphy it's me!" At that moment Murphy truly thought he was hallucinating, it couldn't be could it?
"Bellamy?" He asked his voice betraying him as he sounded weak as if Bellamy was his last hope, which he was but Murphy couldn't admit that to him. He roughly pulled his good arm off of the taller boy to grab his hard bicep and spin him to face Murphy, surely enough Murphy locked eyes with the boy that he'd only dreamed was here.
