Inspector Mohit silently follows her as she enters the restricted area that the sergeant had been preventing her from accessing.

She examines the body that was lifeless and lying on the floor. When the people around the body noticed her, they moved back so she could get a closer look at the body. She then examined the body, its surroundings, her clothing, and the building for a while, as if she were mentally calculating the height at which she would fall from the roof.

Vera: "The girl appears to be quite young".

She straightened her legs and knees, but her gaze remained fixed on her body as she now examined the evidence the forensic expert had previously gathered in a little polythenes.

Inspector Mohit: "Yes, ma'am, she may be 19 or 20 years old".

He kept his eyes on her while he responded to her query so he could brace himself for what she would ask next.

Vera: "who first reports the body".

With her eyes acting as no less than a lie detector, she now turns her attention away from the body and towards the persons she discovered wearing casual clothing.

Mohit:" Ma'am, that person who is standing there did".

Vera looked in the direction inspector Mohit was pointing Using his hand and eyes together. A sergeant who was perhaps speaking less but making gestures with his hands was listening to a man in his mid-40s who was standing and presenting his story. She approached him very closely and questioned

Vera: "So you were the first to notice the body?"

She stared him straight in the eyes to ensure that she wouldn't startle him when she asked him a direct question yet expected an explanation.

Man:" Yes, ma'am, I came here to throw away trash when I noticed a body. Everyone in our colony dumps their trash just here".

He attempted to respond honestly as he could, it was obvious in his eyes.

Vera: 'Have you heard, seen, or smelled anything odd?"

She inquired again since she was satisfied with the response.

Man: "no mam I called the police as soon as I saw the body".

He once more spoke directly, skipping any lengthy explanations that might have been intended for Sergent as well.

Vera: "I'll let you go now".

She was convinced he knew nothing further than this and that getting him to respond would only be a waste of time for both of them. She took a break from him, looked over the notes the sergeant had taken, and began talking to Mohit when these words sounded in her ears.

"Don't you feel that looking the way you are is not the best idea for inspecting the dead scene?"

Vera turned her head in that way so she could see the speaker of the deep voice, who she genuinely knew could be a boy in his late 20s, and he was standing there grinning.

It was Rudra Singh DIG and senior of vera.

Vera regarded him before asking Mohit in a quiet voice that was impossible for even Mohit to clearly hear.

"What would a DIG be doing in a typical murder case?"

Mohit:" His grandfather was familiar with the daughter, mam. He thus asked that he, along with the commissioner, sir, pay close attention to the case".

He made an effort to equal the volume of questions being asked of him and was effective in doing so.

Vera: "oh so that's the case".

she thought to herself and, straightened her face, and put on a smirk as soon as she noticed his smile.

"What sort of attire, in your opinion, would be ideal for conducting research, sir?"

Rudra: "Am I now required to advise an SSP on what to wear when conducting an investigation? Since you received a promotion, I had assumed that you would start working, yet all I see is you adding more cosmetics".

He targeted her face with comments that he knew would mock her, keeping his gaze fixated on it.

Vera ( with a smirk ): "Sir, your current level of general awareness seems low. This is merely a party attire. Despite the fact that I was off duty, the commissioner asked me to look into the death scene. He seems to have more faith in me than in you".

She also knew the phrases that could be used to mock him if he thought he was the only one who knew how to use them.

Before Rudra could speak. Experts in forensic medicine step in and make a statement while examining Rudra and Vera.

Forensic medicine expert:' The suicide is obvious in this situation, sir. There is no pattern imprinted on her neck or any other portion of her body, as far as I can see from the surroundings. Neither an attacking weapon nor the footprint of any other person are present. I believe she jumped off a building, and based on the look on her face, I infer that she had recently experienced trauma. rest I can tell you after the autopsy".

Vera: "but why would a young girl of that age kill herself".

Rudra said before Inspector Mohit, who was ready to say something.

Rudra: "She shared a home with her single mother, a small-business owner of a bakery. In the past, she oversaw a college, assisted her mother, and then used to give some tuition also. The scholarship competition at the NGO my grandfather founded is won by her. She seems to be experiencing a lot".

Vera:" But why only now?"

Rudra: "How could I possibly know? She might have lost the ability to handle it".

Mohit: "What if there is university bullying going on?"

Vera: "Investigate it. We are unable to draw conclusions from the hypothesis".

Forensic medicine expert: "Okay, ma'am, can we now carry the body with us?".

Vera: "ok go-ahead"

She turns to face the dead once more and murmurs under her breath, "Life is always going to be tough, but why did you give up?" once leaving that area, she soon saw something once her eyes landed on it.
