"Kanina ka pa tulala diyan, nakakainis promise." I heard Aeia's talking in front of me.
"Ano nanaman ba 'yon?" I asked while my eyebrows furrowed.
"Grabe ha, araw-araw nalang nakabusangot Kiko?" She asked sarcastically.
"Kiane," I corrected her.
"Hoy! Palayaw mo kaya 'yon, ang arte ha. Gustong-gusto mo pa nga dati lalo na kapag 'yung tumatawag sa'yo si—" Hindi na niya itinuloy ang kaniyang sasabihin nang tignan ko siya nang matalim.
Hindi naman sa ayaw, pero nasa loob kami ng kompanya ko. Dapat nga ginagalang niya ako pero wala, ganiyan na talaga kami sa isa't-isa.
"Joke, I'm just here to inform you na, nalulugi ka na." She said again that made my left eyebrow raised.
"Joke ulit, hinahanap ka na doon ng mga kapatid mo!" The last thing she said before she went out of my office.
What are they doing here?
After the elevator opens, I went to the waiting area.
"How's my favorite brother?" Ate Liane asked and hugged me.
"Ouch?" Kuya Jiane sarcastically looked at us.
"I'm good, Ate." I formally answered.
"Ayos mukha, Kiane." Kuya Jiane teased me. I just shook my head and sat with them.
I looked at my wrist clock and looked at them.
"I have a meeting at two o'clock, so what it is?" I asked them once again.
"Masyado ka na yatang babad sa trabaho mo? Kumakain ka pa ba? Do you need someone to accompany you? Well, Hadasa's with his father so I'm free naman." Ate said. Hadasa is my sister's daughter. I have two niblings in my sister's side, Hadasa is the oldest while Gideon's the youngest.
"You sounds like a mother," I shook my head.
"Well, I am a mother, but not your mother." She laughs while hitting Kuya Jiane arms.
"Corny," Kuya Jiane whispered but Ate heard it. Ate Liane slightly punched his arms again.
"We're just here to invite you, like catch up as siblings. It's been a while since we three saw each other. Actually, sinundo ko pa nga itong si Jiane, hangga't hindi susunduin hindi babangon." Ate Liane said while glaring at Kuya.
"Okay, then. Can you wait after my meeting? Thirty minutes nalang magsisimula na and I have to prepare." I said to them. They just nodded and took out their cellphones.
I went up to my office and put on my coat. I took my laptop and went inside the meeting room.
After two hours, I dismissed them and I went to my office to change my clothes. I wore my black polo t-shirt and my white slacks, I combed my hair brushed up and went down.
They texted me to meet them at the coffee shop since they got bored waiting for me.
As I went inside the coffee shop. Two children hugged me.
"Uncle Ki!" They both shouted while smiling from ear to ear. I smiled a little bit, carried Gideon and held Hadasa's small hands while going towards my sister's table.
"I thought a little catch up with the three of us?" I asked Ate.
"I picked them up since Zach needs to finish something." She said reffering to her husband.
"Order ka na," Kuya Jiane said. I nodded and went to the cashier. I ordered my usual order which is Salted Caramel Latte and a cinnamon roll.
I sat with them and they started talking about life. I was just eating and drinking when Ate snapped me.
"Kaya nga nandito tayo, para magkwentuhan eh, bakit nakatulala ka?" Tanong niya. Huminga ako ng malalim at itinabi ang mga ginamit ko. Wala naman kasi akong masasabi, ano nga ba ang i-kwekwento ko? Pare-pareho lang naman ang mga nangyayari araw-araw.
"How's the company doing? Do you need help?" Kuya Jiane asked.
"No, it's doing great." I answered. Kuya Jiane just shrugged and sipped in his coffee.
Until now?
I know that he wanted the company, but Dad doesn't trust him that much. Yet, he has his agency but he still wants the company. I won't let him get it since Dad trusted me to stay and make the company grow more. Kuya may look like he cares for me but he only care for the company, he was trying to get my trust but I'm not dumb. He made a lot of wrong decisions, he was like the black sheep of the family.
"Kiane, you're zoning out again." Ate Liane said. I just sighed and stood up.
"Maybe I'm just really tired, can I go home?" I asked.
"Okay, let's catch up next time again." Ate Liane said and stood up. She hugged me and tapped my back.
"Kids, say goodbye to your uncle." Ate Liane gently said while looking at Hadasa and Gideon playing beside the glass door.
Gideon ran towards to me but somebody opened the glass door that made him fall.
My eyes widened when the person who opened the door immediately held Gideon's hand.
Hindi natumba o nasubsob si Gideon, nahawakan siya kaagad kung sino man ang taong 'yon.
"I am so sorry," Isang tinig na nagsabi.
Napatigil ako sa paglakad papalapit nang makita ko 'yung tao nung pinantayan niya ang tangkad ni Gideon.
Nanlaki ang aking mga mata at para bang kakawala na ang aking puso sa nakita kong itsura. Para bang nanlalambot ang aking mga tuhod. Gusto kong kurutin ang aking sarili para malaman kung nananaginip ba ako o kung ano-ano nalang ang nakikita ko.
"Are you okay?" Tanong niya kay Gideon. Tumango naman si Gideon at lumapit sa gawi namin.
Tumayo ang babae at naglakad na patungo sa counter.
