Chapter sixteen, Do No Harm

"Campbell I suggest, if you still have any use for Thomas Shelby, you'd call for an ambulance" Paige said. She was right, Campbell couldn't afford to loose Tommy, he still had use for him in some way so he went to look for a phone. Fifteen minutes passed and Tommy was pulled away on a stretcher.

"Tommy?" A voice asked. Paige turned to see it was Milly. "Tommy!" She screams when she finally realised who it was on the stretcher. Milly starts to run and Paige catches her, holding her in her arms. "Shh it's okay, he's going to be okay" Paige said in a comforting Milly in her arms. Tommy was then taken to hospital to get cheeked for his injuries.

Peaky Blinders, that didn't include the three that were drinking in London, tracked down the men that took Ada. One of them grabbed her out of the car to protect her. "It's okay Miss Shelby, we work for Tommy" He said as the other one shot the men holding Ada in the car. "We're Peaky Blinders" Ada pushed her way out of his arms, she hated the sentence "We're Peaky Blinders." She kicked the man in the balls. "My name is not fucking Shelby!" She shouted and walks off.

Tommy was hospitalised and Milly, accompanied by Paige, visited him daily. One day the nurse came into the room. "Ready for a visitor Mr Shelby?" She asked. "No" Tommy said. "I'm here on the king's orders" He heard a deep belfast accent, it was Campbell. "For fuck sake" Paige said, walking toward Tommy's room. "Your highness" Campbell bows, "You're father has sent me to-" Paige cut him. "Does it look like I give a fuck what my father said?" Paige asked, not showing an ounce of concern in her expression. "I'm afraid I must insist" Campbell said. Paige rolls her eyes and walks through the door into Tommy's hospital room. "Are you coming or not?" Paige asked, holding the door.

Campbell followed her in. "I see you payed for an extra bit of daylight, the racketeering business must be booming" Campbell said. Tommy's eyes weren't open but that wasn't new, he could sense Milly wasn't here. "Where's Milly?" Tommy questioned. "She was feeling a bit sick this morning so she opted out of this visit" Paige said. "Are you not going to thank me for saving your life?" Campbell asked. "It was actually me who saved his life" Paige asked. Tommy opened one of his eyes and looked at Campbell, pointing a finger. "Pass me my cigarettes?" Tommy asked. He looked at Paige. Paige didn't put up a fight and gave him the packet.  

"Three nights ago, at the co-operative stables in Montague Street. There was a murder, a man, named Duggan" Campbell said, "The Oxfordshire constabulary found his body in a shallow grave." "I need to piss, nurse!" Tommy called but Campbell put the end of his cane on Tommy's chest. "I know it was you who carried out the murder of Mr Duggan" Campbell said, taking his cane off Tommy's chest and sitting on the chair opposing Tommy. "Oh, by the way" Tommy said, putting a cigarette in his mouth, "Grace, she went to New York. A place called eh, Poughkeepsie. She's married now" Tommy said, his voice in a kind of sad tone. "To a banker, he's rich. I'm sure she's very happy" Campbell said.

Paige sighed, she didn't want to listen to the two of them sulk about Grace. "You've been under my microscope for some weeks now. I have been observing every move you make, that is why I was on hand to save your life" Campbell said as Paige scoffed. "I imagine being shot by a woman, hurts the same as being shot by a man. Just a bit more shameful. You know Mr Campbell, when I got shot they gave me a medal. Yeah. No medal for you I bet" Tommy said. Campbell hits his cane off the floor and stands up suddenly. "Mr Shelby... our reunion..." Campbell says, taking the cigarette out of Tommy's mouth. "...Is part of  a very well worked out plan, which has been in place for quite some time now."
