It was snowing. The thin white blanket of snow covered the streets of Forks and made them white before melting again in a few days. The rain would wash away the snow leaving no white spots behind.
People hoped that it would stick to the ground for even a bit longer. Evenings and nights have been dark so the bit of light that the white snow would bring would be a nice change.
But now was the time again when the snow was on the ground. It would stay put in the forests much longer than in the city. That's why Bella and Jacob decided to go on a walk into the woods surrounding the Cullen house. The weather was nice and it was snowing slightly.

Renesmee was in the forest with her mother and Jacob. She was playing around and catching snowflakes.
"Look, a snowflake." She showed the tiny white ice crystal resting on her small palm to her mom.
"It's beautiful." Bella smiled. "Why won't you go and get another one?" She encouraged her daughter.
Renesmee nodded her head and jumped high up on the gray sky. She raised her small arm and let the snowflake fall on it.
Both Jacob and Bella watched her from the ground.
Suddenly the happy atmosphere changed when Renesmee gasped and went back down to the ground to Jacob. Then Bella saw the same thing that her daughter had just seen. Irina.
"Who was that?" Renesmee asked while hugging tightly one of Jacob's legs, while him being in his wolf form.
"I think that's our cousin from Denali." Bella answered while Jacob growled at the blonde woman.
"Irina!" Bella shouted, trying to get her attention and maybe get her to come to them and talk. But Irina just looked at them, turned around and ran off.
Bella told her daughter to stay with Jacob and ran to the spot on the cliff where they saw Irina but when she got there the blonde haired woman was already far gone.
Why was Irina here? What did she want? And most importantly, why did she run away?
