Chapter 17

"Would you like to come and hunt with me? I think we would be a great team." Garrett walked up to Eve who was standing on a balcony and wrapped his arm around her waist from behind.

"Hunt? Just the two of us?" Eve turned around in his arms but didn't move to remove his arms.

Garrett nodded his head. "Carlisle said it's okay. Pretty much everyone here is doing their own things today. And I do need to hunt."

"I haven't eaten in a while either... okay. We can go. Let me get my jacket."

"Let me, my lady." Garrett spoke, ran into the house and two seconds later was back in front of her with her black jean jacket in his hand.

"You have been too much with Jasper." Eve grinned slightly.

"What do you mean?"

"You called me 'my lady'."

"Ah. Well was I wrong? Are you not my lady?" He placed a kiss on her forehead.

"You weren't wrong." Eve smiled and pulled on her jacket. "It's going to start raining soon." She looked up to the sky.

"We should go then." Garrett took her hand in his gently. He jumped on the railing of the balcony. Eve smiled and jumped next to him before they jumped down easily and ran to the forest.

They ran together through the forest, having a small playful game of tag. Eve ran and glanced over her shoulder. Once Garrett wasn't behind her anymore she stopped, wondering where he had gone. Stopping was a wrong move when suddenly he jumped down from the nearest pine tree and landed just behind her. Eve flinched slightly but relaxed when he wrapped his arms around her waist from behind, pulling her in for a hug. "I got you." He whispered in her ear.

Their senses heightened and they snapped their heads to their left. A deer.

It didn't take long before the deer was down after Eve had catched it.

"That was so hot, you know." Garrett smirked when they stood next to the animal.

"What was?"

"You hunting. The look in your eyes."

"Just eat." Eve rolled her eyes playfully and grinned.

The two fed themselves and had another game of tag. Although Garrett seemed to always be winning.

"You are definitely cheating." Eve pouted playfully after Garrett had once again catched her. Small rain had started.

"Why do you think that, angel?" He hummed.

Eve was just going to answer when the rain started pouring down so hard that both of them were drenched in seconds.

Both of them were completely drenched. Water dripped from Eve's hair, her jacket wet and her eyelashes sparkling with small droplets of rain. Eve looked at the sky and laughed. She ran her fingers through her wet hair and turned to face Garrett who was already looking at her.

Eve smiled at him but her smile faltered when he didn't smile back to her. He slowly walked up to her and now stood right in front of her with no space between their bodies. He cupped her jaw gently with his hand. "You are... so beautiful... so amazing." He muttered.

Eve looked up at his dark eyes. Her eyelashes fluttered slightly. She saw his gaze drift between her eyes, then lips and then back to her eyes. "Garrett?" She whispered.

In one swift motion he wrapped his left arm around her waist and cupped her chin with his right. He pulled her flush against him and kissed her.

Eve's eyes widened in surprise but she quickly relaxed and kissed him back. The kiss was gentle but at the same time held so much passion. Their lips moved in sync and Eve placed her hands to rest on his chest.

Slowly they ended the kiss and rested their foreheads against each other.

"I'm sorry. I should have asked."

"Don't apologize."

Garrett smiled softly and opened his eyes to look at her. "You're soaked. We both are. Let's go back."

"Okay." Eve nodded. "Garrett can you... can you stay with me this upcoming night?"

"Of course gorgeous." He smiled and kissed her forehead. "Let's go."

They walked through the forest hand in hand while once in a while a few drops of rain dropped down on their skin from the branches of trees above them.

When they arrived back at the Cullens house they went straight to Eve's room and changed. Garrett took his jacket off and was left only in his shirt and jeans while Eve changed all of her clothes.

"Don't look." Eve spoke and made sure Garrett covered his eyes with his hands before she started to change. "Garrett." Eve grinned when she saw him peak through his fingers.

"What? How could I not take a look when my mate is changing right in front of me?" He teased with a smirk on his face.

"You are unbelievable." Eve chuckled. "Okay you can look again."

Garrett took his hands off of his face and looked at her. She was now wearing gray oversized sweatpants and a simple black hoodie.

"Come here." Garrett offered her his hand. Eve placed her hand in his and Garrett gently pulled her forward towards him and onto his lap. Eve straddled his lap and he placed his hands to rest on her hips and waist. "You're absolutely gorgeous, you know that?"

Eve smiled. "Thank you. You're really handsome too."

"I can't stop thinking about the kiss..." Garrett traced small circles on her skin through her hoodie.

Eve lowered her lead and kissed his lips again. Garrett closed his eyes and kissed her back. This kiss was much more gentle than their first kiss in the forest.

"Eve, I love y... I love your lips." Garrett muttered against her lips, making her smile softly.
