"This is really awkward." Rosie piped up.
"You can say that again." Jisoo nodded her head in agreement.
"This is really really awkward." Rosie repeated.
"Uh huh."
They both watched from the kitchen as Lisa and Jennie cuddled together on the couch watching Netflix. After the news broke about Jennie's dating Kai, the two barely talked with each other. In public, they tried their best to appear unaffected but when they were hidden from the prying eyes, you'll never see the two together alone. However, after Jennie broke up with Kai a month later, they both can see how the other two started to get back closer together again.
Like tonight for example. Jisoo suggested for them to have a movie night like they had before. She didn't expect Lisa to join them but here she was, coming through the front door, with her sweatpants and just sat beside Jennie on the couch. As she and Rosie went to the kitchen to refill their snacks, they watched as Jennie offered her blanket before Lisa took it and cuddled close.
"Are we going to pretend that the last 3 months didn't happen?" Rosie asked.
Jisoo shrugged her shoulders. This is the first time for her too. How do you deal with two of your besties breaking up with each other? After that day, she was scared that Lisa would change her mind and leave the group finally. But she stayed as she promised. The only thing she requested was for Jisoo and Rosie to never let her be alone with Jennie under any circumstances. Even after Mr Yang and Teddy explained the situations. And that was 2 months ago.
Apparently, some reporters started to notice how close Lisa and Jennie were. They even contacted the agency asking for confirmation before they threaten to break the news. Afraid that it will screw up the group's image, Mr Yang made a decision to create Jennie's dating rumour. The only problem is that Jennie's friends indirectly "helped her" by breaking the news to Lisa first before Jennie even got the chance to do it herself.
She can see how the news broke her two members. Though Lisa was smiling, she could clearly see it never reached her eyes. Same with Jennie. Whose gazes always searched for Lisa whenever she walked into the room. Of which the younger girl seems quite good at ignoring. Whenever Jisoo or Rosie asked whether they were back together, Lisa would just shake her head.
"We are just friends. Nothing else." Lisa answered.
"Since we are going to start our world tour soon, I don't think having this chasm between us is good for the group." Lisa added.
Jisoo didn't know whether she believed the younger girl not until she heard how Lisa addressed Jennie one day when they were back in the dorm. Lisa and Rosie were getting ready to go to the studio when she heard that word utter from the maknae.
"Unnie! Did you take my hoodie again?!" Lisa shouted out from her bedroom doorway.
"Which one?" Jennie shouted back from the kitchen.
"The grey one! The one with one stuck zipper in its side pocket!"
"I don't remember!"
"Unnnniiiieeeee ... .How come you don't remember taking it! I need that. I'm going to see Teddy oppa later!"
"Lisayah! Just go to her room and look for it! We are going to be late!" Rosie shouted back.
Jisoo watched the interactions in fascination. Lisa calling Jennie 'unnie'? Since Jennie mostly grew up in New Zealand, she usually didn't force their younger members to call her unnie. Rosie though kept doing it since she felt it's not respectful but not Lisa. And to hear that clearly coming from their maknae, made her curious at the same time. Maybe they really are now just trying to be friends.
