Dizzy Dream

My heart beat faster as the snow crunched beneath my feet. I heard the howling closing in on me. The pale blue moonlight reflected on the ground. I could see my breath as I breathed hard to keep up with my sprinting and panicking. My blond hair sticking to my face as beads if sweat started rolling down my face.

Soon I came up to a tree. It was vaguely familiar. There was a big hole in it, so I crawled in. If this didn't work I would surely die. I knew it, but hoped so hard. Hoped I would be able to see my parents again. Hoped to go to school the next day. Hoped to live.

Suddenly I saw a couple paws in front of the opening I was hidden in. Then more. I held my breath. After what felt like an eternity, but was most likely only a few minutes, the wolves moved on.

I waited a while then slowly crawled out of my hiding spot. I drew in a deep breath. My throat stung from the cold. I noticed my fingers were freezing as well. A few howls from the distance brought me back to my current problem.

I ran even more. I turned back to face the direction the howls came from. I almost screamed, but somehow stayed silent, as I saw a black wolf with piercing blue eyes stare at me. Its eyes stopped me in place. It just turned and ran away. Like I wasn't there.

I woke up from my dream in a sweaty mess. I had dreamed, again, of my experience. It was different this time.

1) I hadn't been mauled by the black wolf. It had seemed like it saved me this time. It seems cliche and ridiculous, but so real.

2) The eyes. They weren't ones that represented a cold blooded killer. No, this time they were something much different. They were warm and kind.

They were Daren's eyes.
