~Miranda~
All of the news was a bit overwhelming. I sat in my room, which was actually Daren's, on the twin sized bed. It was comfortable and I could see the room had recently been cleaned.
I laid down on the sky blue blanket and thought about all that had happened. I had skipped a day of school to hear that I was a rare werewolf and had to live with Daren, Veronica, and a ton of people I didn't know. I learned that Hunters were out to get me and use me. I felt helpless.
When I sat up my long blonde hair was a mess. I grabbed my brush out of my bag and ripped through the tangles. I kept thinking of how Veronica had said I would change when I was eighteen. My eighteenth birthday would be in two weeks. They caught me just in time.
I smiled at the thought. It wasn't funny, but it made a warm feeling go through me.
Someone knocked on the door. I snapped my head to look at it. I placed my brush on a small dresser and went to open the door. Daren was standing out there. I looked up into his bright blue eyes.
"You ok?" He asked me. I was brought out of my trance and blinked a couple times.
"Ya, I guess" I answered. He messed with his medium length black hair. I never noticed how shiny it was before.
"You guess? It is a lot to take in. You've actually been pretty calm about this." He smirked. I lightly punched his arm.
"You need to learn how to punch!" He joked. "O ya! I came here to bring you to the training clearing. Come on. You'll like it." He smiled and grabbed my arm to lead me away. I felt a tingling in my arm when he touched it. It was nice.
---------------------------------------------
The clearing was huge. There was a spot with mud where some people were running through while carrying weights. Other than that it was all grass. Tall trees surrounded the clearing. Little spots of sunshine came through the leaves.
"Ready to meet everyone?" Daren asked me softly. I nodded and he immediately got everyone rounded up.
"Alright everyone! Stop what you're doing and come meet Miranda!" He said loud enough that people could hear him. He grinned at me and pulled me toward the crowd of werewolves.
Some of them were in there wolf form and others were still human.
One of the girls who was still in human form came up to me. She had short, layered, reddish hair. It was almost orange. She had light blue eyes eyes. Kind if like mine. She was about as tall as me. She had jeans with a few holes in them and a worn, red t-shirt.
"Hey, I'm Jasmine!" She said to me with a big grin on her face. She shook my hand and walked back into the crowd. I met a bunch of other people-er...werewolves- even Daren's friends.
I ended up hanging out with Jasmine for the rest of the day until dinner. Dinner. Now that was an interesting experience.
Jasmine and I walked into the dining hall. Daren left me alone to hang with his friends and let me hang out with Jasmine. The dining hall was probably the biggest room I've seen so far. It had white walls and a bunch of tables everywhere. It reminded me of school cafeterias except there were pretty much no rules.
There seemed to be at least fifty boxes of pizza. I grabbed two slices of cheese, but I noticed everyone else chow down on almost a whole box.
"That's it?" Jasmine asked me.
"This is a lot to me." I told her. She had about five pieces on her plate. I could see Daren fighting over a box of pizza with my dad in an intense battle of Rock, Paper, Scissors.
There were a few food fights that went on, but I felt. Well, I don't know how I felt. It was strange. Jasmine was a few bedrooms away from mine.
"See you tomorrow." She waved goodbye to me.
"Bye" I waved back to her.
I climbed under the covers of my bed. I could feel myself slipping into a deep sleep as I kept thinking the same thing. Is this home sweet home? Is this where I will want to live for the rest of my life? I drifted asleep before answering myself.
~Daren~
It was eleven at night. Everyone had gone to their bedroom and I climbed onto the couch. I smiled at the thought of how well Miranda fit in with the rest if the pack. Besides her eating anyway.
I got up and tip-toed up the stairs. At the end of the hall Miranda's room was quiet. A few of the other bedrooms were still noisy. I walked over to the end of the hall quietly. When I opened the door it creaked silently. I held my breathe for a second, but continued into her room.
She was fast asleep, her hair in a mess. Her mouth was open and she was lightly snoring. It was cute. I walked over to her bed and saw her curled in a ball under the blankets. I kissed her gently on the forehead.
A smile crept onto my face and I left her room. I hopped onto my couch and felt myself slip into sleep.
