~Daren~
I breathed heavily as I ran. The Hunters were on our trail. I could hear their shouting and the crunching of snow under their feet.
"This way!" Jake shouted at me. I followed him to a bunch of trees. We huddled there until I could hear the Hunters stop. They stopped a couple yards away. They were all shouting at each other.
"They're not that far away. I can feel it." One started. "Lets keep looking."
"No!" Another said. The voice sounded female and very dominant. "They may be freaks of nature, but not the one we're looking for."
"O please." A male argued. "We might as well get them out of our way while we can."
"No!" The female shouted again.
They continued to argue. I had one main question in my head that blocked their conversation out though. Who or what were they looking for? My question was mostly answered a minute later.
"We need to find the white wolf." The female said. "We can cure her. White wolves are only half-wolf and rarely know it."
"We know all of this" the male started. "The other wolves are well gone by now, so lets just go back and discuss this at camp."
They trudged off. It surprises me at how loud these professional Hunters can be.
"Lets go." Jake whispered, interrupting my thoughts.
"What?" I ask.
"We need to give all of this information to Veronica. Lets get out while we can." Jake was talking faster now. I could just barely understand him, as he was obviously scared to death. His fur was even standing on ends.
I sighed. "Alright."
We ran even faster on our way back. Adrenaline was running through my veins. The cold wind ran through my black fur making me more confident.
We reached the house in about ten minutes. Jake raced behind the tree where he hid his clothes. I went to the bush where I had put mine.
As I was putting on my clothes I noticed I had forgotten my shirt. Of course. That whole time we had to get ready and I still forgot my shirt. I mentally face palm at myself and ran out.
Jake looked at me and laughed. "Ok what are you doing? Trying to impress anyone?" He joked.
"Lets go." I say. He kept laughing and bit his lip to keep from smiling.
I opened the door and searched for Veronica. She was in the living room waiting for us.
When she finally noticed us, she smirked. "So?" She asked.
"Boy, do we have news for you." Jake said.
"Well. You better start then." She said.
She gave her full attention to us as we explained. Her mouth opened a bit when I mentioned what the Hunters had said about the white wolf.
"What is it?" I asked. I was curious since it felt like everyone knew about this except me.
"A white wolf? Are you sure that's what they said?" She asked us in disbelief. Jake and I nodded our heads.
"What's the big deal? A half-wolf isn't a bad thing." Jake said.
"A half-wolf is a huge thing!" Veronica threw up her arms as she said this. "They said they were going to 'cure' a she half-wolf. Then they'll use her."
"Use her how?" I ask.
"They'll send her into pack borders, looking innocent and hurt. Then when the alpha is at his or her weakest, the Hunters attack." She explained.
