We had been back in Philly for a week and I've been trying everything I could to get a hold of my mom. I don't want to be around my father anymore. He makes me uncomfortable.
I've been staying at Uncle Tahj's for the time being, and I put in a Wendy's application a day ago. Now that I'm sixteen, I'm old enough to work and I'm work ready.
I was in my car, with Xae, pulling up to school. I parked and we got out. Xae was texting on his phone and my mind was just somewhere else, that was until I felt hands around my waist. I knew it was Darren because I know how he smells.
"Hey baby." He said into my ear. I smiled and turned around, kissing his lips. Ever since my first kiss with him, it's like I can't get enough of his lips.
"Hey jahmin." I said once I pulled away. He mugged me a lil bit, making me laugh. For some reason, he hates his middle name, but doesn't mind when I say it, sometimes.
"You better stop sayin' that shit out loud." He said putting his arm around my neck and we began walking into breakfast.
"I do what I wanna do. You forgot?" I replied being smart. I felt a light pinch on my arm. I looked at him and he licked my cheek. He's so unpredictable, it's cute.
"Aye, Darren." Some nigga said walking up to us. Most of the kids were in the hallways, as usual. The cafeteria was not big enough for the whole school, so people would always be lingering around in the hallways and even in empty classrooms.
"Wassup, man?" He said dapping the dude up.
"Yo I gotta- oh shit, this you?" He asked noticing me. I just looked at him.
"Yea, this my girl Katoria, Katoria this my cousin Dre." He said introducing us. I smiled small at him and he picked up my hand and kissed it. He did it so fast I couldn't even pull my hand away.
"Nigga, watch it." Darren said pushing him laughing.
"She bad bro, but aye I need to holla' at you real quick." He said and Darren looked at me. I nodded and he pecked my lips and walked away with him, but not too far. I leaned against the wall and pulled my phone out.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a girl with long, black curly hair, which was obviously a weave, braces, and big eyes. She was pretty and lightskin. I stopped looking at her and got on my Instagram.
I was scrolling through my tl when I felt a tap on my shoulder. To my surprise, it was the girl I was looking at a couple seconds ago. She was smiling at me, and I smiled back not knowing why.
"I'm Ja'Kiyia, you're Katoria right? Marlon's cousin?" She asked and I nodded.
"He told me you needed a friend." She said and laughed.
"You tryna be funny?"
"Nah, calm down. I can laugh if I want to, the fuck?" She said laughing again and I joined in.
"I like you." I said.
"He told me you were mean and showed me a picture and I was like yeah she look mean."
"I am, but not all the time." I said.
"Shit, you sound like me, and most bitches around here don't like me because they hear I'm mean, but I only get like that when I'm annoyed." She said and shrugged.
"Girl, I don't even fuck with the girls at this school."
"I figured. What grade you in?"
"I'm a junior, you?"
"Same."
"Well, maybe we should link up one day, outta school." I said.
"Yeah, we should. You seem cool. What's your number?" She asked and we switched phones. When she gave me my phone back, Darren came up and looked between us.
"You pullin' girls?" He asked and both me and Ja'Kiyia laughed.
"I saved it under 'Kiyia." She said and walked off.
Darren hovered over me and I was still backed up on the wall. He licked his lips and pulled my body to his.
"You ain't answer me. You like girls, Katoria?" He asked and I smiled and shook my head.
"So, what y'all was talm bout?" He asked.
"I know you noticed Ian got no friends, right?"
"Yea, I was gone ask you, but decided against it."
"Well, Marlo sent her my way."
He laughed lil bit.
"You can't make your own friends, babe?"
"Probably not." I said laughing.
The bell rung and he got off of me, knowing the resource officers would be walking the halls soon. We began to walk to my first period.
"Damn, I hate school." Darren said and I nodded agreeing. I'll be glad when this shit is over.
