SMUT WARNING

"If anything gets too much tonight you find me and we will leave immediately. I know how your anxiety gets at large events like this" Danny said desperately trying to tie his tie and failing each time. We had a formal charity banquet to attend that Greta Van Fleet was invited to participate in. It was a silent auction, a dinner and dancing with a bar. The guys had graciously offered up a few VIP packages for free to be auctioned off in benifit of the charity.

I chewed at the inside of my cheek, still very much anxious about this evening, I didn't fare well in large crowds and my anxiety always got the best of me. "Y/n? Did you hear me?" He asked. I looked up from trying to fasten the buckle of my heel around my ankle, "yeah" I replied quietly. He came over and knelt down in front of me and fastened my heels in place, "you're quiet, tell me what's going through your head Mamas" he said looking into my eyes with his dark brown eyes, so brown that I often couldn't tell where the iris ended and the pupil began.

"I just don't do well in situations like this... I never have" I said quietly. He took my fidgeting hands into his, calmly stroking his thumb over my knuckles, "I know you don't but I'll be there with you Mamas, you can just stick by me and the guys you'll be ok. If not we can step out for some fresh air or if need be we can leave." He said reassuringly.

His tie still hung around his neck undone, I reached out and quickly tied it for him and he smiled at me, "thanks darling" he leaned in, pressing his lips to my forehead. "zip me up?" I asked. He stood up and I stood and turned around, he gently pulled the zipper up brushing his fingers lightly over the trail of my spine leaving goosebumps in his wake.

I went over to the dresser and slipped my engagement ring and wedding ring on, we hadn't been married long and it still felt weird knowing that I was now y/n Wagner. I watched the light reflect off of the diamonds and smiled before putting on my necklace and earrings.

We finished getting ready and headed for the front door, "do you have everything? Phone? Wallet? And did you take your anxiety medication?" He asked. One thing was Danny always made sure I took my meds on time and that I was well taken care of, he always put me first and that's something I deeply admired about him. "Yeah I have everything and I took my meds although I don't know how well they are going to work with my anxiety already being this bad" I said. He walked over, tucking his wallet and phone into his pocket of his suit jacket before grabbing the car keys off the key hook.

He pulled me into him and looked down at me, "breathe with me, I can feel your heart hammering in your chest" he said calmly. He modeled some deep breathing for me and I copied him trying to bring down my heart rate. After a few minutes he brought his lips to mine and kissed me gently, "ok you ready?" He asked. I nodded and slipped my hand into his.

We walked out the front door of the house and he locked it behind us before walking to the car and opening the passenger side door for me. I got in and buckled up as he gently shut the door behind me then got into the driver's seat. He pulled out of the driveway and onto the street heading towards the highway.

I turned on some soft music to occupy my mind as we drove, night had fallen and the only thing illuminating the road was the occasional street light and the headlights of the car. The pale moon shone, casting a dim shadow across everything. "Pretty gorgeous night" I said. "Hard to call anything gorgeous when you're sitting here in comparison" he chuckled, slipping his hand onto my exposed leg through the slit of my dress.

The drive to the charity banquet was a little under an hour. We pulled up to the venue and he went to the valet. The valet attendant opened my door for me and I got out, Danny met me on my side of the car slipping his arm around my waist, "ready?" He asked. I nodded unsure my voice would sound convincing we walked inside and were immediately greeted with the charity event host, "Ah Mr. Wagner good to see you again" the man extended his hand to Danny who took it and shook it firmly. "Thank you for having us, this is my beautiful wife y/n" he said proudly.
