THE morning light reflected off the counter and onto charlotte's face. Having been woken up to someone gripping her wrist, Charlotte winced at the pain.

"What are you doing here charlotte?"
"You can't just barge in and sleep at my house"
"Especially not just on a stool at the counter"

"Gracie, your mom le-"

"Charlotte, you need to go"

Gracies voice boomed in the quiet house, nothing but the patter of rain and footsteps could be heard as Gracie not so gently guided charlotte towards the door. Gracie's grip on the other girls hand didnt get looser but rather got tighter as she opened the door to let charlotte step out. Charlotte stood right outside the door, soaking in the droplets coming down from the sky as Gracie stood at the other side of the door under the roofed ceiling, completely dry.

"You really can't be here"

"Please let go, your hurting me"

It was only then that Gracie had realized her grip had left little white indents on the swollen hand. For only a second, Charlotte thought she saw a wave of guilt wash over Gracie but that guilt was quickly turned into anger.

"Charlotte, please get out of here right now"
"I don't know who told you you could be here"
"But please leave"

Without another word exchanged, charlotte turned around towards the rain, a slight glow surrounding her from the raging rain bouncing off her body. Charlotte had always been welcomed in the Abrams's house, no one ever asked a question when she was there. But i guess those days were over and it was now Charlotte against the world.
