"Please make sure to collect all your belongings as you make your way off the train"The announcement of the final stop on the train woke charlotte up as she scurrying towards the closing doors. It had been almost half a day since charlotte was at her apartment, or what used to be her apartment. Charlotte Harrington was an impulsive person, she had always acted upon her gut, never stopping to think what was the right thing to do.
The crisp air stung as charlotte inhaled, she didnt know what she was doing here but here she was. She didnt know where to go so she just followed the crowd. She followed the crowd till she found a quiet cafe to sit at until she decided what to do with herself.
Scrolling through her phone, charlotte tried finding a cheap place to stay. The brightness on her phone suddenly went dim as a ringing sounded. Popping up was someone she had grown familiar with and seen as a mother figure. Katie."Hey Lottie it's Katie,"
"I just wanted to make sure you were okay""Oh hi Katie, how are you"
"Good good"
"Didnt see you this morning and Gracie brushed me off"
"Hope your okay""Yes im okay"
"Sorry i just left in the morning"
"Forgot i had a shift"
"Thank you for yesterday though""Of course, ill see you around?"
"JJ's cooking tomorrow, do you wanna come over?""Oh im not sure if i can make it since im covering a shift"
"But ill try and if not, tell him i said hi""Of course lotts, ill see you soon"
"Bye, thanks again"
"Really appreciate it""Anytime"
With that, the line went dead and silent tears slowly streamed down the girl's face. Charlotte didnt know what she was doing, she had left in such a rush that she had nothing planned and absolutely nothing to do. The call made by Gracie's mom made charlotte feel so empty and full at the same time. She had never experienced the family bond that Gracie got blessed with. She had always been picking up shifts ever since her mom had passed. And if she wasnt picking up shifts, she was picking up her family's shit. It all seemed so unfair to charlotte, her brother got to leave with no burden. Yet charlotte left too but still had the family burden on her. Being the daughter of the Harrington family was just so unfair. Her dad never seemed to care but yet every week she was graced with a cone of ice cream. Did that make up for the beatings she took? Where did he even get the money for the treat?
