THE car ride back to the Abrams's home was filled with tension. The two didn't know how to act, they didn't know if they were crossing a boundary that was never officially set. Gracie's leg bounced up and down uncontrollably as if she was trying to start an earthquake. The girl sat next to her debated putting her hand on Gracie's knee to ease the nerves but eventually decided against it, not wanting to ruin any chances of going back to normalcy.
The short few minutes of the car ride eventually came to a halt and Charlotte cautiously followed the brunette into the house she used to call home."Grac- Charlotte!"
A smile crept onto charlotte's face as she heard the younger boy's voice. It had been a solid few months without being able to make fun of the shorter boy. Well at least he was shorter when she last saw him. August had a growth spurt and grew to be just slightly, slightly, taller than Charlotte. Very slightly, as Charlotte liked to say. Definitely not more than two inches of course...
"August!"
"Hey how are ya?""Good"
"What's up with you?""Hey! Don't mess up my hair"
The boy stifled a laugh as he brought his arm back down from ruffling the girl's hair. He wouldn't say it to Gracie's face but he truly did miss Charlotte's presence.
"Okay that's enough Aug"
"Char and I are gonna be in my room"A small smirk made its way onto August's face before he burst out into laughter. Within seconds, the brunette had slapped the back of his head and August had started to run up the stairs to the safety of his own room. Gracie had made sure to restate her statement, knowing that her little brother was at an age where his head was always in the gutter.
