Mr. Choudhary-  "we're just preparing the files. The team left early yesterday, that's why the data is not updated Sir"

Before I knew it, I slammed my hand on the window, and the glass shattered. Sharp pieces cut into my skin.

I stared at Mr. Choudhary "Who let them leave early, Mr. Choudhary? You know me, I want the data updated, on time. Did their senior tell you to let them go?"

Mr. Choudhary- "I know, Sir. I'm trying my best to have the files ready by this evening."

"Not this evening. I want those files by the afternoon. If I don't get them on time, you know what can happen"

Mr. Choudhary was visibly shocked. "Y-yes, Sir"

"You may leave now."

"Sir, shall I bring the first aid kit? Your hand is bleeding." he said, looking concerned.

I nodded, gulped a glass of water to calm myself, and said, "Sorry for yelling at you, Mr. Choudhary"

"It's okay, Sir. it doesn't really matter"

Looking at him, I hugged him lightly. "Thanks, Mr. Choudhary, for helping in handling this company . I can't help it, but it's for our own good if we take our work seriously"

He smiled. "Yes, Sir. I know, and I'll make sure that from now on, everyone takes their work seriously."

Mr. Choudhary quietly left the room to get the first aid kit. I walked over to my desk and opened my laptop. As the screen lit up, my eyes drifted to a photo frame sitting nearby. It was a picture of my parents, Maa and Papa smiling back at me.

A tight, bittersweet feeling gripped my chest.

"I miss you, Maa... Papa" I whispered. "I don't know why, but I miss you both more today."

Mr. Choudhary had been in this office for nearly three decades. By age, he was my senior. He had worked with my father... and even my grandfather during his last days. I had known him since I was a child. He was like a part of the family.

But when it came to work, we both liked to keep things professional.

My smile slowly faded as anger bubbled up inside me again.

Just then, there was a knock at the door.
