Suhani's Pov
"Dr. Suhani... Dr. Suhani?... Dr. Suhani Chauhan!" Who the hell was disturbing my sleep? I felt irritation flare as the sharp voice penetrated my dreams. I pulled the blanket over my head, trying to block it out.
"Dr. Suhani!!"
That annoying voice again. I opened my eyes, my irritation spiking at the familiar yet unfamiliar tone.
"What!" I snapped, sitting up in bed. My head throbbed painfully, creating a small earthquake inside my skull. As my vision gradually cleared, I clutched my head in agony and looked up—only to be shocked by the view before me.
(What was Mr. Khadoos Rathore... I mean Mr. Rathore doing here? And wait... he was glaring at me?)
My eyes darted around the room, and I saw the others—Ahana, Krish, and the staff. Everyone was here except Mr. Choudhary. I met Mr. Rathore's intense gaze, which felt like daggers piercing through me. It looked as if he might eat me alive without even roasting me first. Goosebumps prickled my skin under his sharp, focused stare.
(Suhani, are you an idiot? What the hell are you thinking? Oh God, I think I'm going insane here. This place is driving me totally mad.)
"My alarm?" I murmured, defeated, as I glanced at my team members. They shook their heads, confirming that the alarm must have buzzed, but the heavy dose of medication had kept me in a deep sleep. I looked back at Mr. Rathore, who was still eyeing me with that outrageously intense expression. I laughed awkwardly, but his face remained as stern as ever, so I stopped myself from doing anything more foolish.
"Dr. Suhani, we've been trying to wake you for the past thirty minutes, and you didn't budge" Mr. Rathore's cold, rough voice cut through my thoughts.
(Fuck, Suhani, you've messed up badly.)
I cursed in my head and blinked rapidly, trying to gather my wits. His gaze remained unfazed as I stood up and looked at my friends , who had apologetic smiles on their faces. I sighed and turned to Mr. Rathore, who was already staring at me, not leaving a single chance to avert his gaze.
"So what? I had a little headache, that's why I couldn't wake up on time" I replied, doing my best to mask my fear, though deep down, I knew I was afraid after realizing the mistake was mine. The way he was staring at me, he could very well be planning my murder in his head. His intimidating gaze was driving me to the brink of madness because I knew I had messed up.(I mean, it wasn't that big of a deal, but from Mr. Rathore's perspective, it probably was. Oh God, he's such a torture.)
"Okay, Ms. Suhani Chauhan, but the staff came to wake you up, and after trying for almost twenty minutes, I had to come here. We've all been waiting for you at the dining table for breakfast," Mr. Grumpy Rathore said, clenching his jaw. His perfectly sharp jawline moved flawlessly as he spoke, his hands behind his back. Wait... he was wearing a three-piece black suit, his overcoat held by a personal attendant. His perfectly brushed hair, chocolate brown eyes, broad shoulders, and biceps straining against the sleeves of his white shirt, which he had rolled up to his elbows—all of it was exquisite and luxurious. If I had to describe him, those would be the words. But behind those eyes, I sensed something—secrets buried deep. How could I not recognize those eyes? They used to be mine, and now they held something raw and dark, devoid of shine.
