Suhani's pov

He turned towards us, and our eyes met. I quickly rolled mine and broke the eye contact.

"Just wait a little longer, the staff will be here soon, and then we'll leave for the palace" he said in his strong, rough voice before striding towards the care unit where ranisa had been shifted.

"Dr. Suhani, I'm sorry if you felt angry. It's not his fault. he's just very concerned about Ranisa" Mr. Choudhary said, trying to defuse the tension.

"Mr. Choudhary, he really needs to change his attitude. There are other ways to convince people, he can't just force anyone to do things for him" I replied, my irritation rising.

"Actually, Dr. Suhani, he's a little protective of her" Mr. Choudhary explained, lowering his head slightly.

"I understand, but he's just too rude" I said patiently, striving to maintain my composure.

"Ranisa raised him with nothing but love and care, that's why" he added.

"I wonder about his parents, Why? Doesn't he have his parents?" I asked, curiosity piqued as I tried to make sense of his words.

"No, they aren't alive anymore. Ranisa brought him up on her own. It's not really my place to tell you this, but I wanted you to have a clearer picture of him. I know you might see him as rude and arrogant at times, but trust me, doctor, he has a heart of gold. Once he cares for someone, his whole world revolves around them. For him, Ranisa is more than a parent, she's his entire world. That's why he's so concerned about her" Mr. Choudhary finished with a soft smile.

(Why is my heart suddenly racing after hearing that?)

I took a deep breath and nodded at him, and he smiled gently back.

"Come, the staff has arrived, we should head to the palace" he said, and I nodded. The staff appeared in pristine white kurtas topped with elaborate shahi pagdis. I was taken aback by their attire—just wow. Even though I earned a good income, I never spent extravagantly. I preferred saving my money for necessities rather than splurging on luxuries. I cleared my throat and shrugged off my surprise.

"Dr. Mishra, Dr. Aditi, it was a pleasure working with you. I hope to collaborate again in the future" I said, approaching them and shaking their hands. They smiled warmly at me.

"It's our pleasure, Doctor.  newcomers like you three has so much potential, you're truly an inspiration for young doctors"Dr. Mishra stated, and Dr. Aditi nodded in agreement.

"Excuse me, doctors, I hope I'm not interrupting, but we need to reach the airport within an hour. I think we should leave" Mr. Choudhary interjected. We all nodded in agreement, and the staff began assisting them with their luggage.

We exchanged final goodbyes as they departed, leaving just Me, Krish, and  Ahana behind.
