When we got to my room, I sat Adella on the bed and began searching through my clothes for something for her to wear. Once I found a dress, I helped her get dressed and then sat her down. "What are you doing here?" I asked her, trying to be quiet so no one could hear us,

"I've been following the ship." She whispered, "I was so worried after that day that I didn't know what else to do." I hugged her tightly,

"I've missed you," I muttered under my breath. When we pulled away, she cupped my face.

"I have a plan, but we have to be careful." I nodded, "Since I am unmarried on a ship full of men, that means they'll have us sleep in a room together." She explains, "You know this ship like the back of your hand. You can get us out of here, right?" I smirked,

"Is that even a question?" I asked. We giggled; there was a knock on the door,

"Miss Addams, are you decent?" I heard my father ask; I went over to open the door while Adella sat on the bed.

I opened the door as my father came in; he smiled at us, "Miss Addams if you don't mind me asking, are you married?" Adella shakes her head,

"I was going to the mainland to meet my family with my betrothed, but I c-couldn't...." She begins crying, and I run over to comfort her. I will never be able to trust her again, I thought to myself as Adella sobbed about her 'dead husband-to-be.' My father lowers his head,

"I'm sorry for any discomfort I may have caused by my question." Adella gives him a weak smile,

"It's alright." She said, "In time, it will get easier, or so I'm told, at least." Father shook his head,

"If it was true love, you will never forget." He told her, "I still recall my late wife; those two years we were together before Caspia was born were the happiest of my life." I had never heard him speak this way about my mother. Come to think of it, I never heard him speak of her at all.

"Thank you, Captain." She said sweetly. Father clears his throat and straightens up,

"Yes, well," he said, "you two will share a room until we dock again." We both nodded.

Our plan was already working!

I helped Adella get situated when Hunter walked in, "Hello, ladies." He said, "I hope you are comfortable, Miss Addams." She nods,

"Thank you," She said, "I am." Hunter walks over to me, then turns back to Adella,

"I hope you don't mind, but I need to steal my wife for a few minutes." Although Hunter couldn't tell, I could see that Adella was trying everything she could to not attack him.

"Of course." She said; I gave her a weak smile and left the room with Hunter.

"Your father informed me that you'll be staying with Miss Addams until we dock again, which might not be for another week or so." I nod, "And the doctor said that we cannot continue our efforts for a child until he has a chance to examine you again, so it may be a good thing."

"Okay," I say and go to return to the room, but Hunter grabs my wrist and pins me against the wall roughly,

"You better be on your best behavior." He told me, "Is that understood?" I nodded, waiting for him to release me.

When he finally did, I returned to my room, shutting the door and locking it behind me. The moment I turned, Adella attacked my lips with a passionate kiss; I wrapped my arms around her, deepening the kiss. Adella pulled away, stroking my cheek gently, "We may be able to escape now." I told her; I pointed to the window behind us. The window was big enough that we'd be able to slip through. Adella nodded,

"You first." She said, "I'm not leaving you again." I smiled and nodded,

"I wouldn't have it any other way." Adella opened the window, then reached for my hand, "I should leave a note for my father." I tell her, "He may not have been the best, but he's still my father." Adella smiled, taking a seat on the bed as I started to write out my note:

"Dear Father,

If you are reading this, it means that I am gone. I have always wondered why I felt so different from you and others, but I know now that it is because I am not like you. There were secrets my mother never told you, and I am not sure she ever would.

You were not the best father, nor was I the best daughter, but I hope now you will always be happy, living amongst my people. Please, do not search for me, but know that I am alright. Where I belong.

Also, watch your back around the Andersons'. I have a feeling they are up to no good.

I love you with all my heart.

Caspia."

I folded the letter and wrote my father's name on it. It was time to leave while everyone was distracted. I took Adella's hand as we stepped onto the window's ledge, shutting it firmly behind us. Terrified wasn't even close to describing how we felt at that moment. I looked at Adella, "Together?" I said; she nodded. "One."

"Two."

"Three!" We said together, jumping into the water.

As we came in contact with the chilling water, we began to transform. It was nowhere near as painful as the first time. When the bubbles cleared, I saw Adella floating in front of me with the biggest smile on her face, and I knew I had the same look on mine. I reached for her, pulling her into me as I attacked her lips viciously.

When I pulled away, I held her hands tightly in my own and told her, "Take me home." Together, we swam hand in hand back to our city. And I was confident I had made the right decision; at least, I hoped I did.
