Around the clock, guards watched every single move the humans made. We had this set up for a month, trying to get everything ready for a fight. It pained me that we would fight my people, including many of our families that don't know.

During this time, I've gotten to know my mother, and I couldn't be happier. She and Adella have been teaching me about our culture under the sea. I even heard a few stories from when my mother lived with my father while she was pregnant with me. Apparently, her pregnancy was troubling not long before I was born, which is why she was put on bed rest for the remainder of the pregnancy.

My father had a hard time with this because it meant he couldn't screw her anymore, but he enjoyed feeling my kicks. She even told me of something he said when I kicked, "That was a strong one," he told my mother, "It has to be a boy to kick as hard as he did!" My mother only giggled and rubbed her belly, not daring to challenge him; she said,

"I just knew you would be a girl." She told me as we spoke, "Every firstborn child in the royal family is a girl." I smiled at the thought; if that were the case, if Hunter and I had conceived, it would be a daughter, not a son like he had hoped. But a fear washed over me as I thought, what if he killed our daughter because she wasn't a boy? When we first married, I would never have thought he would do such a thing, but after getting to the real him and finding out who his father really is, I think he just might do something like that.

As I swam around the city, I felt a slight pain in my belly. It was uncomfortable for a moment, but not terrible. One of the guards swam up to me, concerned, "Are you alright, Princess?" He asked; I nodded, but the pain grew more intensely, almost jabbing, like a knife being rammed into my gut. At first, I thought it was my time, but I began to count in my head...

I was late....

My guard and I swam back to the palace, and I hurried to find my mother. When I finally found her, she looked up from what she was doing, "Caspia?" She said, "What's the matter? You look like you've seen a ghost or something." Catching my breath, I asked,

"How did you know you were pregnant with me?" She raised a brow but began explaining,

"At first, it was a bit of pain in my belly and a sickening feeling." She tells me, "And soon that pain worsened until I could barely stand. We finally had the doctor take a look at me the next day and that's when we found out that I was pregnant." I nodded, running this information through my head, but this caught her attention, "Caspia?" She said, "Do you think you might be?" I bit my lip, fighting back a sob as I nodded. She took me into her embrace and held me as I sobbed,

"I don't know what to do...." I cried.

After a while, my mother set me down and held my hands as we spoke, "What do you want to do?" She asked,

"What do you mean?"

"We have a way to get rid of the babies, and it isn't harmful to you at all." I raised my brow at this, "We only use it if a pregnancy is risking the mother's or the child's life, but this is a special situation, so there will be an exception if you choose this." I sighed, not sure what to do,

"Should I tell Adella?" I ask, which earned me a troublesome look,

"I'm not sure, Caspia." Mother replied, "I suppose it depends on what you decide to do." I nodded as I whipped my face.

"I have a lot to think about, I suppose," I say; she nods before saying,

"I'm here, no matter what you decide to do."

"Thank you, Mother."

Adella soon found me and sat down on a rock, looking over the city, "Your mother said that you would be up here." She said; I gave her a faint smile, "I know." She said, "I can tell, Caspia." I turned to her,

"What do you mean?" I asked; Adella placed a hand on mine,

"I know that you're pregnant, Caspia." She replied. I sat there, shocked,

"H-How?"

"I'm your mate." She told me, "I know all." I giggled as she said this. Adella hugged me, "No matter what, Caspia, I love you, and if you want to keep this child, then I will raise it as my own." I kissed her,

"Thank you, Adella." I tell her, "I think I really needed to hear that." She nods,

"Take your time to think, but a decision has to be made." I nodded, looking over the city once again.

We could be a family, I thought, the baby, Adella, and me. Maybe we could have a real life...together.
