Chapter 8

MIDDLESBROUGH, ENGLAND

Returning home from the Silverstone track and Lilianna was relaxing while Isla was playing in the garden. While she was watching her daughter, Lilianna received an email. Opening her phone, reads the received email.

"Dear Lilianna McNair,

We hope this email finds you well. We received your email expressing your interest in the open position on our media team here at McLaren. We appreciate your enthusiasm and would like to invite you for an interview with Zak Brown, our CEO, at our headquarters.

We were impressed by your qualifications and experience in the media industry, and we believe that you could be a valuable addition to our team. We would like to learn more about your skills and discuss how you can contribute to our organization.

Please let us know your availability, and we will schedule the interview at a convenient time for you. We look forward to meeting you in person and discussing the possibilities of working together.

McLaren F1 team"

A wide smile spread across the girls face as she read the email. She actually got an interview with McLaren, a dream come true. Don't get her wrong, she would love to work for a top team like Mercedes or RedBull but either way, Lilianna's just happy to be a step closer to working in the sport she loves dearly. Lily immediately knew who the first person she was going to tell and it wasn't Max. It was indeed going to be her brother and her parents.

Scrambling through her contacts, Lilianna clicks on her contact for her mum. After a few rings, Claire, Lilianna's mum, picks up the phone. "Lilianna, what's with the unexpected call?" Claire's voice comes through the other end of the phone. "Hi mum, I have some news." Lilianna smiles, though her mum cannot see it. "Oh, what is it?" Claire asks. "Before I tell you, can you put the phone on speaker and call dad to join you?" Lilianna asks. "Sure. Alan come here! Lily's on the phone and has some news!" Claire calls her husband.

"Hi sweetheart." Alan's voice comes through. "Hey dad. Are you guys ready for the news?" Lilianna asks as she gets a response of 'yeah' from her parents. "I got an interview with McLaren." Lilianna announces to her parents. "Oh, baby. That's amazing! Congratulations!" Claire immediately. "No way! Lilianna Marie McNair! That's incredible!" Alan says. The girl only gets her full name when she's either in trouble or she's done something amazing.

But, getting an interview with McLaren was a big deal for Lily. "Oh, Lily. Make sure you tell Paddy. He'll be over the moon for you." Alan says. "I will. He's out with some of his teammates right now, bowling. So when he gets back, I'll make sure to tell him." Lilianna smiles. "Okay, sweetie. We'll talk to you later. Enjoy the news and make sure to tell Isla too. She'll be so excited." Claire says as Lilianna nods on her end of the call. Hanging up, Lilianna couldn't take the smile off her face.

"Mummy, what's got you so happy?" Isla asks, walking into the room. "I have some news, Isla. Come here." Lilianna smiles, patting the sear beside her. "What is it?" Isla asks. "You know how mummy applied for some jobs in racing?" Lilianna asks as Isla nods. "Well, I've just been offered an interview with McLaren. I have an one soon." Lilianna smiles. Isla immediately hugs her mum.

COUPLE OF HOURS LATER

"Lils, i'm home!" Paddy calls as he walks in. "Hey. How was your day with the lads?" Lilianna asks as Paddy walks into the living room. "Good. The same as always." Paddy shrugs, sitting beside his sister who had her daughter asleep, cuddled into her chest. "Alright, well I have some news." Lilianna smiles. "Oh really. What is it?" Paddy asks. "Well, you know how I applied for some of the open positions in a few of the F1 teams." Lilianna starts as Paddy nods. "Well, I got an email back from McLaren and I've been invited for an interview." Lilianna smiles. "Lilianna Marie McNair! I knew you'd get offered a job interview. I mean who doesn't want you to work for them?" Paddy rhetorically asks as Lilianna laughs.

"You'll smash this interview and get the job, Lily. I believe in you." Paddy says, wrapping on arm around Lilianna, the girl laying her head on his shoulder as Isla slept against her chest. "Remember, Lil. I'll always be here for you both. Even when you move out or if you decide to move country, I'm always a phone call away." Paddy says. "Yeah. I know and both Isla and I are really grateful for everything you've done for us so far. You've helped me raise Isla alone when I thought I couldn't do it." Lilianna says, running her hand over her daughter's hair.

For the rest of the evening, Lilianna stays cuddled into her brother while Isla stayed resting against her mum's chest. "Have you told mum and dad?" Paddy asks, Lilianna. "Yeah. They're really excited." Lily smiles. "I bet they are. You fully deserve this." Paddy says. "I know. I'm praying the interview goes well." Lilianna smiles. "It will. Don't worry." Paddy reassures Lilianna.

A/N: my boy is starting P2 and Oscar P3 🥹🧡. Never been happier. Good day of sport for me. My team won 1-0 in ther closed doors friendly, Lando is starting P2 and Oscar is starting P3 tomorrow and the England Under 21's won their under 21 euro's final 1-0. Good good day for sport
