It was the weekend of the british grand prix and Lilianna's last time flying out before the baby is born. At 8 months pregnant, she waddles her way into the paddock and down to the redbull garage due to her being on official materity leave. "There she is, the gorgeous woman carrying my child." Max smiles when he sees Lilianna approaching. "And there's my race winner no matter what happens." Lilianna smiles as Isla runs over to him. "And how are you feeling princess? We get to find out if your getting a baby brother or baby sister." Max smiles, crouching down to Isla.
"I'm so excited, daddy." Isla smiles. "What do you think we're having?" Lilianna asks as Max picks Isla up. "I think baby is a girl." Isla giggles. "I'll go find Pierre and see what he has planned." Lily says as Max nods. "Okay. I'll keep Isla entertained while you're busy." the dutch driver smiles as Lily nods and gives him a quick kiss before heading to find Pierre.
At the Alpine garage, Pierre was going through some of the data with his engineer when he spots Lilianna approaching. "Uh oh, hide the data. We have a spy approaching." the frenchman jokes causing Lilianna to laugh. "Good one, Pierre. But you and I both know that I'm no spy. I just came to find out what type of gender reveal you have planned." Lilianna smiles, hugging him. "I think you and Max will love it. After the race and champagne is involved." Pierre smirks as Lilianna looks at him curiously. "You're a questionable one Gasly." Lilianna laughs. "You are too, McNair." Pierre laughs aswell.
After a quick hug, Lilianna heads back to the redbull garage. "Did you find out what Pierre has planned for the gender reveal?" Max asks, placing Isla in the cockpit of his car as she has a look around it. Checo was crouched down beside Isla, laughing with her as she sat in Max's cockpit. "Yeah. He said it involves the podium and champagne. And then again, it's Pierre and heaven knows what he has planned." Lilianna laughs. "True. He's always up to something." Max laughs.
"Is that Lilianna McNair in there?" the girl heard someone shout. Lilianna turns around and sees three familiar faces which brings tears to her eyes. "Oh my god. No way are you guys here." Lilianna says, her voice shaking. "We've come to surprise you and clearly you are." Dael laughs as Lilianna walks out to him, Paddy and Ryan and she hugs them. "I am. I thought you woulda been busy with training ahead of the new football season." Lilianna says. "You seriously thought that we wouldn't miss time with you while your in the UK?" Paddy says, his arm around his sisters shoulder.
"Well, I'm glad your all here." Lilianna says and both Dael and Paddy give her a questioning look. "Why?" Dael asks. "Pierre's planned a gender reveal for me and Max after the race." Lilianna smiles. "We're going to find out if we're getting a niece or nephew?" Paddy asks and Lilianna nods. "Yeah. But after the race on the podium." Lilianna smiles as Paddy hugs her. "I can't wait." Dael says.
"Uncle Paddy! Uncle Dael! Uncle Ryan!" Isla's little voice calls from the paddock. The young child runs over to Dael first and he immediately picks her up and hugs her as she hugs him back. "Hey Isla-Rose. Long time. Look how big you are." Dael says. "I'm 6 now. And I'm going to be a big sister." Isla says. "I know. Are you excited to have a baby sibling?" Ryan asks, moving some of Isla's hair out of her face. "Yeah. I can't wait." Isla giggles. "Am I not getting any cuddles?" Paddy frowns at his niece. Isla reaches out for her uncle and he takes her in his arms as she tightly hugs him.
The four catch up before it's time for the race. "Which garage are you in?" Lilianna asks Paddy, Ryan and Dael. "Redbull. So, you're stuck with us." Ryan laughs. "I'm not bothered. Me and Isla are getting to see you three." Lilianna smiles as she looks at Ryan and Isla. Ryan bouncing Isla on his hip just as the race was getting ready to begin. All five of them put on a set of headphones before turning to face a monitor. "Isla-Rose. Come here for a minute." Christian calls across the garage. "I'll be back in a minute lads." Lilianna smiles, taking her headphones off and walking over to the team principal with her daughter.
"Isla, how would you like to watch the race from the pitlane box?" Christian asks and Isla immediately looks up at Lily. "Can I mummy?" Isla asks. "Of course. You get to cheer daddy on from the box." Lilianna smiles. "Yay! Thank you!" Isla smiles, hugging her mum before following Christian.
"Where's Isla?" Paddy asks as Lilianna rejoins him, Dael and Ryan. "She's in the pitlane box with Christian." Lilianna smiles, putting her headphones back on. "Is she allowed?" Dael asks. "As long as Christian says she is then yeah." Lilianna smiles.
AFTER THE RACE
At the end of the race, Max had won. He immediately celebrated with the redbull crew before running into his garage where Lilianna was waiting. "Well done, love. I'm so proud of you." Lilianna smiles as she kisses Max on his lips. "Only because you were here and I had Isla in my ear every now and then." Max smiles as Lilianna wraps her arms around his neck as he places his around her waist. "And before you know it, it will be me, Isla and baby." Lilianna laughs. "Come and watch the podium celebrations instead of staying in this warm, stuffy garage." Max laughs.
Lilianna smiles as Max grabs her hand and drags her outside leaving Paddy, Dael and Ryan hesterically laughing in the garage. "Enjoy the moment before we find out." Lilianna smiles, pecking Max before he heads up to the podium. From below, the redbull, mercedes and aston martin teams watch from below as Max, Lewis and Fernando recieve their trophies and get their celebrations underway. "Lilianna McNair?" the girl hears someone behind her. Lily turns around and looks at the person calling her name. "Can you follow me." they smile as Lilianna nods. "Isla,
come here." Lilianna calls and her daughter who immediately runs over to her.
The pair follow the member of staff upton the podium where Fernando and Lewis has left and it was just Max who had now been joined by Pierre. "Okay. So, listen up. We're going to get Lilianna here once she's up the stairs and we're going to find out what she and Max are having." Lilianna heard the frenchman's voice. "I'm right behind you idiot." Lilianna smiles as Pierre turns to her. "No need." Pierre laughs.
"So, I have two bottles of champagne here. Both have the gender of baby Verstappen in. So it's kind of like a podium celebration." Pierre says, handing Lilianna and Max a bottle of the champagne. The other drivers all watching from below with Lilianna's brother and her two friends. "So, on five then you two spray the champagne." Pierre says.
After the countdown, Lilianna and Max spray the champagne in the air and over everyone watching below. The color comes out blue. The crowd below cheer as Max jumps. "It's a boy!" Lilianna says, taking the mic off Pierre. She walks over to Max and he tightly wraps his arms around her. "We're having a baby boy." Max mutters as he lifts Lily off the podium and hugs her. "We are. I'm so happy." Lilianna smiles. Isla then runs over. "I'm getting a baby brother." Isla giggles as Max picks her up. "You are. Are you excited?" Max asks as Isla quickly nods.
THE HOTEL
Once the celebrations had died down, everyone in the paddock headed back to their hotels. Isla was immediately asleep in the car back so Max instantly put her to bed while Lilianna changed into her pajamas. "This is unreal. A boy." Max smiles, sitting beside Lilianna as she sat on the bed. "I know. I'm really happy. A girl and a boy. Nothing more I want now." Lilianna smiles, laying her head on Max's chest as he puts his arm around her waist and places the other on her stomach.
"The perfect family." Max smiles. "We are. The perfect little family. Me, you, Isla and baby boy." Lilianna smiles, pecking Max before laying her head back on his chest and falling asleep to the found of his heartbeat against her ear. Max contently smiles before gently pecking her head and falling asleep himself with Lilianna wrapped tightly in his arms.
