step into the daylight (and let it go)

Kiara woke up at 5:45 with a smile on her face and a text from JJ, 

JJ: Mornin 

she opened her phone to reply

 Kie: I can't believe your actually awake

 He smiled at the reply 

JJ: The break was good, couldn't miss it

he replied, 

Kie: I also can't believe you went to the break without calling me

JJ: I'll make it up to you later

Kie: Yeah, sure

JJ: Kie i promise

Kie: I know, I gotta get ready, I'll come get you and then we'll pick up Pope

JJ: See ya then

She left the conversation at that, she felt like a little kid kicking her feet and giggling inside

It was about an hour later she was ready, she was wearing yellow jeans, a top that read 'Her Wave' and she couldn't be bothered to do her hair up so she chucked on a headband and went to put on her vans "Hurry up Kiara, if you wanna to get Pope and JJ you had to leave 5 minutes ago!" her mom yelled out, "Yeah, yeah i-" she was hopping around her room struggling to get her shoe on "I'm almost ready!" her dad spoke up "Hurry Kiara!" she picked her back pack up off her bed and put it over one shoulder,  "Chill out I'm ready" she said walking though the kitchen and grabbing the car keys on the bench and grabbed the plate of toast that her mom just made shoving one piece in her mouth heading toward the door "Bye love you!" she called out as she walked out the door "Bye honey be safe please!" her mom called out "Bye sweetheart" her dad continued, "I want my plate when you get back Kiara!" "Yeah yeah bye!" she called back walking down the Poarch steps and running to the car putting her bag on the seat next to her, this was the first day back at school without John B there, she hated it.

JJ had been ready for a few hours , he was wearing a faded dark blue top with a logo of a local OBX company, his normal camo cargo shorts and his normal boots with his red cap, all he really had to do was shower and brush his teeth, the Chateau was lacking food so he didn't have any breakfast and he honestly wasn't ready for the day, he heard beeping from the front, he grabbed his folder on the bench and ran out to the car when Kie rolled down the window "All aboard!" he smiled and hopped into the seat next to her chucking his folder on the floor, the leaning over the middle console to place a small kiss on her lips "Hi" she whispered, "Hi" he whispered back, then she leaned into the back and pulled out the plate of French toast placing it in his lap, his eyes widened "I got breakfast" he had never put something in his mouth quicker, "Oh my god" he said with a mouthful of food as she drove off "Your a life saver" she laughed, she loved this, being with him.

They pulled up to the front of Popes house, Kie reminded him "We are just friends ok?" he put his thumb up "Got it" they saw Pope walking towards the car "Be stealthy" she said under her breath while waving to Pope, he was licking his fingers from the sugar on the toast "I'm the stealthiest person you'll find" "Sure" she replied "Heyyyyy Pope!" she said as he opened the back door, "Hey guys" JJ looked at Popes back pack and then Kie's, "Oh so we're bringing back packs to school now" "JJ we've always Brang backpacks to school?" Pope questioned "I personally think carrying things is cooler, like the movies" "Or it's just impractical" Pope said back, "You know what pope-" JJ started before Kie interrupted "Whatever ok? Y'all ready?" she said changing the gear stick, JJ replied "Nope".

They got to school just as the bell rang, as JJ was getting out he pulled his flask out of his pocket taking a swig of it, Kie saw as she walked around the front of the car, she waited for him to reach over and get his folder "Hey, chill out." she said, he shut the car door "If I black out just, don't remind me" she kept her eyes on him, "That's not funny" she said back, they walked through the yard, there were a million eyes on them, or at least it felt like it, Kie let out a heavy breath, JJ looked around, yep, everyone was looking, they spotted the school memorial for John B, god they didn't need this right now, Kie turned around, "I feel like people are staring at us" JJ looked back Aswell, "oh yeah"  he replied, Pope started to walk off "Guys I can't be late" "Hey, hey!" He stopped, "We gotta stick together" she walked up to walk next to him, he gave her a smile, JJ walked up next to Kie, "Stick together... yeah" Kie rolled her eyes and linked her arm with JJ's, she didn't know how they would get through the day.
