"You are?" Axel mumbled more to himself than me, before bringing his eyes up to my face. I dried my hands on a paper towel, and looked at him. His eyes were still low and tired-looking, but this time there was something swirling inside of him.
"Wash your hands, please. And take off your clothes." I instructed him, helping him stand up. He stumbled over his feet a bit, and I tried to keep us upright, walking him to the front of the sink and making him clean his hands thoroughly with soap and water. After he dried them, he paused, looking at me.
I waited for him to take his clothes off, because his pants were soaked with rain water and blood. And he was already so injured. If he were to catch a cold on top of all of this, I think he'd probably die.
He eyed me, "Are you going to just watch me get undressed?"
I shrugged, "Nothing I haven't seen before," I raised an eyebrow.
He looked down at me, his height towering over mine. His gaze fell to my lips, but I didn't give in. I rolled my eyes, "But if it makes you that uncomfortable, I'll leave the bathroom and get you some clean clothes."
"Are you really always mad at me?" He asked.
I thought it was a little but funny he was still thinking about what I said. I sucked in air, looking at him sternly.
"Axel, there's many things about you that I don't like at all."
"Oh?"
"Yes," I pursed my lips, "You're mean, and cocky, and annoying, and possessive, yet you somehow still think you're some great guy." I let my eyes fall to his lips and chin.
"You only ever think about yourself." I gazed down at his neck, "You do reckless things," I looked down at his bruised collarbone, and freckled chest, "And you're always so... angry."
"Really?" He tilted his head at me, and the low bun I'd put in his hair released a few strands onto his forehead as he moved.
"Yup."
"Is there more?"
"Oh, a lot more," I let my eyes fall down to the bruise on his ribs, "But you just almost got killed for me."
His lip twitched up into a smile.
"So I think I'll let you off the hook for today." I sucked my teeth with sass, still absolutely refusing to give into the tension between us. Because every time we do, something bad happens. And after tonight, I'm just tired of bad things.
"What makes you think I almost got killed for you?"
"Who wouldn't?" I shrugged, beginning to turn around and head out of the bathroom door that was wide open already.
I heard Axel let out a low chuckle behind me as I hopped up the stairs and entered his room. A familiar scent filled my nose as I walked in, and I rummaged through his closet for some clothes.
I dug around, finding a pair of boxer shorts and a hoodie. I brought a t-shirt and sweatpants too, just incase he might be feeling a bit cold from the rain.
After inspecting his room nosily, I walked down the stairs with his clothes in hand, and stepped towards the bathroom once again.
As I entered again, the door still being left wide open, I heard the shower running. I looked on the floor to see Axel's wet and bloody sweatpants, underwear, and socks on the floor, along with the bandages I'd just used to wrap his wounds up. I frowned.
