Graves led you to a black unmarked vehicle, as you walked you felt uneasy and alert as you saw it had heavily tinted windows. You followed behind him hesitantly as he led you to the vehicle. He opened the humvee door and gestured for you to go in but you came to halt and had a weary look.

Graves noticed your weary look and he gave you a reassuring nod.
" don't worry, it's safe."
Graves spoke as the other shadow soldiers with him entered the vehicle.
You took a deep breath and hesitantly stepped into the vehicle and sat next to a shadow soldier.
Graves then got into the Humvee as well, sliding into the driver's seat whilst exhaling and he looked at you from the rear mirror.

" your names y/n right ?"
He asked to make sure.
You nodded.
He'd then roll his eyes with a bit of an attitude as he pressed a button, an engine whirring, he'd then glance towards your direction from the rear view mirror.
"You're not mute after all.Speak... "
he said with an attitude.
" it's y/n."
You muttered.

He'd then start to drive the vehicle, an amused smirk now crossing his features.
"There, was that so hard?"
you glared at him as he spoke , your hand balling up into a fist at your side as you didn't feel safe.
" Easy now. No need to be so violent...I have good intentions y/n , you know that."
he said, eyes still fixed on the street as he drove.

You were nervous , you didn't know what you were getting yourself into but you were tired of living on the streets but you were also scared of the possibilities and the things that these men can do to you. You were broken from your silenced thoughts and you looked up at graves with the same glare and stern look.
" How old are you y/n ?"
Graves acknowledged the fact you were very young
" 14..."

Graves remained silent, a brow raised as he'd taken this info in ,his eyes still fixed on the rearview mirror as he could see you were still tense.
"y/n...you know you're way too young to be out on your own. especially at night.."
you looked up at him and your eyes narrowed.

" I didn't choose to be on my own.."
You muttered as you looked out the window.
"So, your parents...abandoned you?.. " his gaze shifted forward
"Or are they somewhere out there searching for you?"
he spoke.
" if they were looking I wouldn't be here would I..."
You sighed.

Grave  then let out a chuckle at your remark.
" You're pretty snarky and sharp, aren't you?" he'd look back at you , still taking the occasional huff
"But you do have a point."
He agreed.
The other soldiers in the humvee with me looked at me and some fixed their military gear as they sat next to you.

Graves remained quiet, and he still had the cigarette in his lips, his eyes still fixed on the road as he'd ask.
".Now you're from America yes?."
He looked at you.
" You see me speaking fluent English don't you?."
You remarked.
A small chuckle escaped his lips, "I do, but that doesn't mean you're from America."

You looked at him and the other soldiers nearby and sighed giving in. You didn't want to tell much information about yourself to keep a low profile but you had no choice at this point.
" I'm from ( your country).."
You answered quietly.

Graves nodded before asking.
" Then what are you doing out here all the way near the borders of Mexico?"
He questioned.
" It's a long story alright.."
You answered as you saw him pull into a military base.

" I've got all the time for it, y/n I'm not busy." he'd stop the vehicle before then taking another glance at you.
"And you'll do well to know about me before we get out of the vehicle...I am the leader of this team of mine, and I won't tolerate being disrespected, you understand?."
He spoke firmly.

" respect is to be earned but whatever...."
You muttered.
" Respect is also to be given, or have you forgotten this? "
he'd then get out of the vehicle as the other soldiers would follow suit, he'd then glance back in the rearview mirror with an amused smirk, and with a wave of the hand, he'd ask.
"Are you gonna get out or are you just gonna be a stubborn mule? "

" call me a jackass if you must:"
You say as you got out of the vehicle stepping outside into the muggy atmosphere.
"Little bit of a mouth for someone who's in need of some help. "
He shrugged.
"Either way, come along. We're going for a stroll"
he'd then motion for her to follow, all with that same smirk on his face.

You followed behind him cautiously and your guard was up and you were tense and alert.
The base looked oddly similar to a prison, all to the same gray and black color, soldiers and some security guards here and there, yet you'd find the area to be more quiet than a prison. Graves  however looked totally at home and comfortable, almost as if it was something he'd spend his life within.

"C'mon , it's alright. It's safe."
he'd say with a reassuring but almost annoyed manner, his eyes slowly shifting towards  direction.you followed and looked around and saw how there were guards and such that lied around that were armed and ready to fire. You followed him into the base and you kept steady and alert as you headed towards a room.

" this is my office, it shall be your temporary home until we get your parents all figured out." he'd reach a door and hold it open, waiting for her to enter.
"Go on...."
your eyes narrowed yet you were still hesitant and you walked into the office taking a look around.

You looked around and you took in the sight.
As you did, you  felt a presence nearby, as if the shadow soldiers were just standing in the doorway, all standing there and staring at you , keeping an eye on you. One of them also walked behind you but it was a female, whose face you  didn't see clearly.

"C'mon y/n, there's nothing interesting about my office, I'm sure"
he'd light up a cigarette and take a drag.
As you felt a presence behind you , you quickly turned around and your eyes narrowed as you got into a defensive position.

This was new to you had you've been on your own,  but on the inside and out you'll always be alone.
