A/n - well ISN'T this just a lovely chapter :,)

Tw- mentions of abuse , abuse , traumas and such , alcohol mentions , suicide mentions

As you felt a presence behind you , you quickly turned around and your eyes narrowed as you got into a defensive position.

The female soldier would step forward, her eyes staring towards you  as she spoke.
" You're in no danger, y/n"
She spoke.
Graves looked from beside you to the female soldier
"You should've warned her before going behind her."
The female soldier simply crossed her arms
"She's a civilian at this point,Commander. "
The female soldier huffed.

You looked towards them both and your eyes narrowed.
" there's nothing civil...I am no..I am not what you call a civilian."
You eyed them.
The female would remain rather smug, looking down at you.
" Oh but you are.. you're too young to be anything else but a civilian y/n"
Graves had a hand on his hip, turning to look at you.
"She's right. You're no soldier, y/n... "
graves agreed.

You looked at both of them standing around and stood waiting for the next move to come.
The female would then speak.
"We're going to have to search you, y/n "
Graves then spoke up.
"This is only temporary, y/n. We just need to check for anything dangerous"
The female then walked on over.
" Stand still, civilian. "
She spoke and you gave a little look.
" This civilian has a name."
You spoke.

The soldier would stare back at you, her eyes locked in a cold stare.
"Your name is no concern of mine "
she'd then reach out towards you  only to grope around your rugged pockets and check the inside of your cut up clothing.

You felt tense and glared every so often as she patted you down and you looked at graves. No weapons appeared on you, as the female soldier stepped back. " .. You're fine. .. "

Graves, however, looked from back to Riley, and he couldn't help but grin.
"You know, you're not so bad after all"
He then turned and walked towards his desk.
"Sit "
He spoke firmly and you cautiously sat down at the chair near his desk wondering what would happen next and your hands stood clammy as you stood nervous.

Graves then took his place behind his desk, leaning back to light up a cigar and take a drag before placing it down once more.
"Y/n tell me, what do you want in life? "
he tilted his head sideways, his brows raised in curiosity, he also held his right wrist out at a slight angle looking at the wristwatch he had on his wrist.
"I got a few minutes to spare "
He spoke in a low tone to you.

You took a deep breath before speaking and you fiddled around with your messy clothing and spoke.
" I want a normal life...like normal shit that kids get..."
You spoke quietly and firmly.
You've lived in the streets for about 3 years , suffering through the cold and harsh conditions.
You've wanted to live with a family that would care for you and love you like normal but you never got that.

You often stood locked in a room for days on end , it was like a prison. Your mother often neglected you and your father had taken advantage of this and decided to abuse you. He'd often push you around and beat you like it was nothing. Often drank and smoked. Your mother on the other hand was out getting drunk and sleeping with other men as if she didn't have a husband and she got pregnant but later on committed suicide which cause her to kill herself and the baby with her.

That left you alone with your father which don't end well which only ended up in more abuse and as you saw the days pass nothing got better. Later on as you left ( your country of state) you winded up in Florida but later on you got tired of it and you decided to run off and you stood wandering the streets of the states , going from Texas all the way down to the Mexican borders where you had been found.

It's been rough and you've tried your best , you stood skittish of people and stood stern and ready to fight at any second. You lived in fear and you were afraid of everyone and anything. It was hell but maybe , just maybe you have a second chance at life.

Graves , He'd then smile at your answer.
"Well y/n , I'll be the one to tell you this but this is the real world. Life just doesn't always go your way."
he'd take a puff from the cigar
" But for what it's worth, I'll be here for you. " he'd then stare at her for a moment.
" y/n do you know what the Shadow Company is?"
He'd ask.

You looked up at him and you stood there and shook your head no.
"Shadow Company is a military contractor, we work under the U.S government for whatever tasks we're required to do "
he smiled at you.
"We do things most normal armies wouldn't, since we don't need to adhere to the laws they're forced to follow "
he then took another puff from the cigar
"But, if I'm being honest, I like that rules are just ..obstacles, and we shouldn't be tied by them.. "
he spoke.

You thought about it for a moment and you took a moment.
" how does this correlate with me?..."
You spoke not understanding why he was bringing up the army and such.
"Well y/n "
Graves sighed.
"You need to understand you're going to be spending some time here at least until we're able to find your parents and even then, you'll probably stay with us. "
He'd then lean forward.
"And as your guardian, I have the power to decide what happens to you.. "

Your eyes narrowed a little at his words.
" your not my legal parent so tell me how that would work , also finding my parents is impossible because my dads a drunk and my mom killed herself. So please tell me how that would work ?"
He looked at you for a moment once more before speaking.

His expression shifted from confusion to surprise, though it quickly returned to the cold smirk he'd had the entire time.
"You're an orphan? "
he'd tap his finger a few times against the desk, seemingly thinking about this newfound information.
"Then that makes me your guardian, at least by law "
Your eyes widened.

You lost and then you were found but now it's time to turn your life around.
