The soldiers had gone quiet as graves had grabbed your arm, stopping you from landing a punch on the soldier.
" I think that's enough for now y/n"
The soldiers had then burst out in laughter
" he got put in his place by a little girl!  "
Another spoke.
"I think she's got more balls than you! "
The soldier looked at you with respect.

The soldier had then gone silent as he walked off, some of the other soldiers who continued to laugh about it as well. Graves however, had remained stoic as he then took your arm
" C'mon y/n Let's go."
He'd then begin to walk out the door as most of the soldiers just let them be, some of them even looking confused as to why they  were leaving with Commander Graves in the first place.

Graves had silently decided to keep you in his office. He knew being in the barracks wasn't going to work well so he decided to place you in his office where he knows you'd be safe.
You would have then followed graves, as you eventually made it into his office. He'd then make a turn to look at you and speak.
" Make yourself at home okay"
he'd then let go of your arm, making his way over towards his desk and chair.

As Graves pulled out the  chair from his desk he sat down and picked up a pen and scribbled something down quickly as he then turned to you to see you looking around taking in the new environment. The office consisted of having normal things a office would have such as a desk , shelves and mainly a chair but Graves had a small couch in his.

You took a seat down on the couch and you sighed thinking back on everything that has happened in life to you. Life wasn't kind , you knew it was unfair but it was out right cruel to you.
You're thankful you were found but under these circumstances you started to question everything. Your thoughts mainly wandered to private riley. She had been so neglected and against you being here and you didn't know why. You didn't understand why she was so against you being here , the way her eyes would narrow as she looked at you , he gazed cold and stern. It was like you were some sort of unknown enemy to her.

You considered life to be like a storm , once it passes a rainbow shall shine but now all you saw was the dullness and truth of the harsh realities.
You flinched and were broken from your ongoing thoughts as you heard a loud knock come from the door and as you snapped your head up to see what it was you turned your head towards graves and you looked at him with a blank expression but a knowing look in your eyes.

'' come in''
Graves' voice broke the ongoing silence and as you saw the knob of the door slowly turn you were soon to be met with the one soldier that mind boggled you.
'' may i have a word with you commander ?.''
Private Rileys words rang  out and you felt the hairs on the back of your neck stand. Your eyes narrowed as you saw her look at you for a moment and you stood alert and on guard.
'' permission to speak is granted.''
Graves acknowledged as he looked up at her and had his hands clasped together over the small stack of paperwork he was working on.

'' what's going on ?''
She questioned , her tone serious and stern.
'' things had gotten out of...hand in the barracks and now y/n will be staying in my office.''
Graves answered as his accent appeared more.
Riley stood still and in formation as graves had spoken to her.
'' well that's what happens when you bring a civilian to a military base.''
She said in a smug tone.
'' watch your tone private...''
Graves snapped lowly as he held a hard glare at her.

You looked between the two and you felt on edge as she was in the room but you kept attentive and were prepared to run or fight if necessary.
'' y/n is my ward , most importantly my daughter now. She is under my care and she is more than just a civilian''
Graves barked.
'' if im such a problem then send me back...''
You glared at riley.
'' that would be a great idea actually since some little girl can't seem to handle a few soldiers.''
Riley's voice was harsh as she spoke.

'' that's enough !''
Graves glared at riley.
'' out of my office now , your dismissed.''
Graves glared at her.
Riley had glanced at you before leaving , closing the door behind her. Graves looked towards you and his gaze softened as he saw how tense you really were.
'' don't worry kiddo...i know i made the mistake of putting you in the barracks but your safe with me now okay?''
His tone was...soft. He had never been soft. His tone was always harsh and commanding as one should be when you're in the military but when he talked to you compared to how he talked to other soldiers , it was soft and gentle.

For one's gentleness comes a long way , for too shall seek  for those who know the way and will pay for those days that come for play.
