Joel gasped softly as he woke up. The memories from the night of the outbreak were engrained in his mind and have been haunting him for the last twenty years. He sat up, looking relieved that Annie was still in the room with them.

Each time he had the nightmare, he would immediately have to find Annie and know where she is so he would know she's okay. She was fast asleep on an old recliner chair on the other side of the room, using her jacket as a blanket. Joel didn't take his eyes off her until Ellie spoke.

"You mumble in your sleep." She said. "I hate bad dreams."

"Yeah, me too." Joel sighed as he rubbed his eyes.

"You know, I've never been this close. To the outside." Ellie said, looking back at the dark and raining sky. "Look how dark it is. Can't be any worse out there. Can it?"

Joel sighed again, softer this time though, and silence filled the room for a moment. "What on earth do the Fireflies want with you?"

The front door swung open and the Servopoulos sisters walked in.  "Hey." She said, loudly enough to wake Annie. She continued, "Sorry it took so long. Soldiers fuckin' everywhere."

"How's Marlene?" Ellie asked.

"She'll make it." Tess answered before looking at Joel. "I saw the merchandise. It's a lot. Wanna do this?"

Joel nodded his head yeah before he stood up and grabbed his bag. Annie yawned as she rubbed her eyes, slowly she stood up and grabbed her bag. She swung it over her shoulder as she followed everybody out of the apartment.

"Don't you think it's a bit strange that they're askin' us to do their smuggling?" Joel asked.

"Marlene wanted to do it herself. We weren't the first choice, or the second for that matter. She's lost a lot of men. Beggars can't be choosers." Tess replied, as the group entered the room.

"Yeah, let's just hope there's someone alive to pay us." Annie said.

"Someone'll be around. Come on." Tess said.

Hazel started a small elevator and held the door open for everyone to enter, before getting onto it herself and hitting the button for the elevator to take them down. "Who's waitin' for us at the drop-off?" Joel asked.

"She said there's some Fireflies that have travelled all the way from another city. Girl must be important." Hazel said as she glanced at the fourteen year old. "What is the deal with you? You some bigwig's daughter or something?"
