Chapter 33

~The next day~

Avery woke up late in the afternoon and Jughead was at home.

"Hey Jug, what are you doing home?" She asks hugging him.

"I'm leaving Stonewall but I'll see you later I came to grab my switchblade." He says taking it out a draw in the kitchen.

"Everything okay?" She asks worried.

"Yeah, love you Aves" he says kissing her cheek and pulling her into a tight hug.

"I love you too Jug" she says softly, he pulls away looking at her for a second then leaving. Avery goes downstairs and heads back to sleep. While she is sleeping Jughead calls her but she slept through it so he left a voicemail. When she wakes up the next morning she is told that nobody can find Jughead.

"What do you mean?" Avery asks as her nerves shoot up.

"Nobody has seen him since yesterday afternoon." Fp tells her.

"He'll show up right?" She asks sipping her tea as her hands shake.

"I hope" Fp says, she nods and walks downstairs watching a movie.

"Hey everything okay?" Sweet Pea asks.

"Jughead is missing" she says calmly watching the movie.

"He'll show up" Sweet Pea says kissing her cheek.

~A few days later~

"Elizabeth can you come here for a moment?" Alice asks as Fp and Avery are sitting with Alice in the living room.

"What's going on?" Betty asks.

"I got to admit it was Jellybeans idea. We've been calling Jug's phone. Of course, no answer. It's been going straight to voicemail but then Jellybean said that...that we should try to track it. That there's a way to uh...to ping a lost phone, so we did that." Fp explains.

"Where was it?" Betty asks.

"In your jacket" Fp says putting Jugheads phone on the coffee table, tears fall from Avery's eyes.

"So I guess I'm wondering, Betty...what the hell are you doing with my missing son's phone?" Fp asks, Avery looks at her.

"Well Elizabeth?" Alice asks.

"Okay uh...the night of the party Jughead was talking about losing his phone. He thought he had lost it in the woods, but I reminded him that he had just left it here to charge before the party. It was dead so we plugged it in to charge it. And when we left for the party, we must've forgot about it." Betty says.

"Forgot about it? All this time?" Fp asks.

"Okay. How did it get in your jacket?" Alice asks.

"I must've picked it up at some point." Betty says.

"At some point?" Fp asks.

"Elizabeth Jughead is missing you have his phone. You didn't think it was worth mentioning it to anybody?" Alice asks.

"I don't know what to tell you, mom. I'm worried, okay? This is the longest Jughead and I have ever gone without talking, even when we've been in a fight. So please forgive me if I'm not 100% lucid about this." Betty says.
