Sara was stunned. "Uh..."
"Yeah... I don't know. I knew it was stupid. Sorry." Sara shook her head.
"No. Don't apologize." Javier's face lit up.
"You want to?" he asked.
"Uh... wow... that's like, a really big step," Sara said. "I mean... can I have time to think about it?"
"Sure," Javier said. "I wasn't forcing you or anything." Sara nodded.
"I know. Thanks. It's just, I have so much here... I mean, I know your house is only a half-hour away, but it's still a big deal."
"Yeah. Don't rush into anything." Sara smiled, glad he understood.
"Thanks. So..."
"What?"
"Oh, nothing. I'm just bored."
"Me too," Javier said. "Wanna go to dinner?" he asked.
"Sure. Where to?" Sara asked.
Javier shrugged. "Your choice." Sara rolled her eyes.
"Oh my god, NO." Javier grinned.
"Am I missing something?"
"You're choosing. Girls hate when guys ask them. It's like, pressure. Besides, I don't care where we go anyway." Javier laughed, knowing what he was going to say next would annoy Sara even more.
"Well, neither do I." Sara playfully punched his shoulder.
"You little fucker."
"That's a naughty word," Javier joked.
"Bitch. I can throw out a few more if you'd like," Sara said.
"Oh, I know. Anyway, where do you want to go?"
"Are you serious?!" Sara laughed. "I literally just told you. It's your choice."
"But I don't want you to like, hate the-"
"I won't," Sara said. "I like pretty much every restaurant in the area. I like food!" She laughed. "The key to a girl's heart is definitely food."
"Yep. So where do you wanna go?" Javier joked again. Sara threw her head back and laughed.
"I pray to the sweet lord jesus, Javier fucking Dunn will shut up." Javier laughed.
"I gotta go get ready," Sara said. "I'll be back in, like, 20 minutes, okay?" 20. More like 30.
"I can pick you up," Javier offered. "It would make more sense. Cause then we can just go from your place."
"Oh, ok," Sara said. "Thanks." She kissed Javier and walked out to her car, trying to decide what to wear. She ran through some possible outfit ideas, but couldn't decide on anything. She'd figure It out when she got to her apartment.
In her closet, Sara was faced with a mix of dressy and casual clothes. She thought about just going causal, but remembered they would be going to a nice restaurant and decided to wear one of her best outfits- a simple little black dress, red heels, and a string of pearls. Classy but cute. She changed and stared herself down in the mirror, trying to decide what to do for hair and makeup. She finally decided to curl her hair a little and pull the sides back in twists. She was never the best at doing her hair anyway, but the bobby pin kept slipping from her fingers, and she kept having to redo her hairstyle.
"Are you serious?" Sara said after the hairstyle had failed for the fourth time. It was frustrating, but she had to laugh. She realized she was shaking, and that she was insanely nervous. That was why she couldn't do her hair for shit. She finally got it, after 5 more minutes. She laughed and shook her head, wondering why she was so nervous. Her and Javier had been dating for months, and she didn't usually feel like this when they went on a date. Of course, she usually didn't dress up as much, either. She hoped he would like how she looked.
