Into You

The next day, Sara awoke to her phone ringing. She sat up and grabbed her phone, tired from a restless sleep. She realized she was about to miss the call, so she picked up quickly. "Hey," she heard a guy's voice say. It took her a moment to register who it was. Javier.

"Hey," she said sleepily.

"Were you sleeping?"

"Yeah, but it's fine," Sara said.

"Oh, I'm sorry. Look...I know this might come off as a little weird... I don't intend it to be..." He sounded strangely nervous. "But I can't stop thinking about our date." That woke Sara up. HE couldn't stop thinking about their date? He. Javier. Date. He. Liked. Her. Maybe? She took a little too long to reply, but she finally said, "Me niether." And it was true.

"So, uh... do you wanna do something today?" Javier asked. "We could go to a movie or something."

Sara was about to agree when she remembered she had a benefit show that day for a children's hospital. It's not that she didn't want to do the show, it was just...she wanted to go out with Javier.

"Oh, uh...I'd love to, but I have a show tonight."

She could sense the disappointment in his voice. "Oh...okay...sorry," he said.

"But do you wanna do something before then?" Sara asked. She hoped he would say yes. "The show's not until 7."

"Sure. We can do whatever you want. I can't until about 2, I have music stuff, but we can do something then."

"Sounds good," Sara replied. "Wanna figure it out then? I'm so tired I can barely think straight."

"Fine with me. Now I'll let you get your beauty sleep." Sara blushed and felt her stomach do a little flip-flop.

She laughed. "Yeah, right. Bye," she said in a playful tone. They hung up and she fell back to sleep, content and excited about her date. A little scared, too, but she really, really liked Javier, and she wasn't going to let herself back out of this.

When she awoke, she realized it was 11:00. She snapped up and checked her phone quickly, checking for notifications. None, except for a thank-you tweet from the children's hospital she was performing for. She bolted out of bed, forgetting about her ankle. It hurt a little less, but she still limped as she made her way to her closet. She scanned over the clothes, trying to decide what to wear. She finally chose a white sundress and gold sandals. Not too simple, not too much. She went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror at her messy-as-fuck hair. She made a face in disgust and reached for her hairbrush, getting all the knots and shit out of her hair. When she finsished, she wondered whether to curl it, straighten it, or leave it natural. She decided against natursl, because her natural was a mix of straight and wavy, which she viewed as awkward-looking, and curled was maybe a little too try-hard, so she decided to straighten it. She wouldn't completely straighten it, though. She wanted to look like she cared, but not TOO much. It took her a few minutes to get her hair the way she wanted. She looked in the mirror, closely examining it. She nodded and sprayed it with hairspray. Now came makeup. She didn't know what look she wanted. She usually didn't put much on when she was home, and when she was doing shows she had a makeup artist. But now she didn't, and she wanted to put a little more on then usual. After 10 minutes of looking at her makeup and trying to decide what she wanted, she decided to call her sister Jenny. Jenny always had flawless makeup, and Sara knew she'd know exactly what to do. Jenny agreed to come over, and she was happy to know that she could be there in 10 minutes. Jenny didn't live in Eureka, so that was good whenever she wanted to see family. The rest lived 2 hours away. Sara looked out the window, seeing Jenny's car pull in the lot down below. A minute or so later, Jenny knocked on the door. Sara opened it and greeted Jenny with a hug. Jenny looked at Sara and said, "you look cute! Any plans, or are you just dressing up for the paparazzi?" Sara rolled her eyes.
