The next day, Sara heard a knock on the door and opened it to see Elizabeth. She grinned and pulled her into a huge hug. "I love you," Elizabeth said. Sara nodded. Elizabeth pulled away and looked at Sara in tears. "I'm so happy you're okay. The past week has been the worst..." Sara's own eyes got teary and she hugged Elizabeth again. They sat and Sara grabbed her phone, having so much to say.
"So how are you?" Elizabeth asked.
"Okay. I'm glad you came."
Elizabeth smiled. "Me too."
"I didn't expect to see you yesterday... thank you," Sara said.
Elizabeth looked at her, confusion crossing her face. "Why wouldn't I have come?" she asked. "You're like my sister."
Sara shrugged. "I don't know. You didn't mention it."
"Yeah, sorry. I was working on music stuff the whole night. I didn't think about telling you," Elizabeth said. "But of course I'd be there. You don't even know..." Sara glanced at her, waiting. "God, it was fucked up," Elizabeth said. Sara laughed a little. "I'm serious! The waiting. Everything. I was so worried and nervous and scared. You need to quit doing this shit to me. It's too much," Elizabeth joked. Sara could sense she was trying to cover up how she felt. "It was like... are you gonna be okay, or..." Sara hugged her. Elizabeth was more emotional than she was.
"It's okay," Sara replied. "I'm fine. I'm here to be a bitch for the rest of my life." Elizabeth laughed.
"You're only a bitch 90% of the time," she said. "You're tolerable the other 10%." Sara laughed.
"God, I'm so glad you came by," Sara said. "I need you." Elizabeth nodded.
"And I'm here." Sara smiled. "What do you wanna do?" Elizabeth asked. "Anything?" Sara shrugged.
"It's up to you," Sara replied.
"I'm fucking tired."
"Same here."
Sara glanced over at Elizabeth. "Thank you," she texted.
"For what?"
"Just for being here. For being my best friend." Elizabeth grinned and hugged her.
"Always," Elizabeth said. Sara smiled. "Ugh, I miss hearing your voice!"
Sara laughed. "I miss talking."
"How long do you have to be on vocal rest?"
"2 weeks," Sara replied. "I thought it would be longer, but it's not. I'm scared."
"Why?" Elizabeth asked.
"Because, like, what if my voice changes?"
"Yeah. I'm sure it won't change that much. I mean, you'll still have an amazing voice, I'm sure." Sara smiled.
"I don't even get why this happened," Sara said. "I was told it was from too much strain... but I thought I was doing everything right. Guess not." She laughed, thinking of how it was another of her adventures. She was always getting herself into something.
"You always think that," Elizabeth laughed.
Sara nodded. "So what did you think of Javier?" she asked.
"I liked him a lot. He loves you so much." Elizabeth replied. Sara smiled.
"I know."
"He was almost crying." Sara sat up.
"Seriously?"
Elizabeth nodded. "It was cute. He was so worried. We all were."
"What do you think my family thought of him?" Sara asked. "I mean, it was a weird way to meet, but they still met."
Elizabeth looked thoughtful. "I think they liked him. They talked a little. He was kind of in his own world the whole time." Sara nodded, thinking about what Jenny had said. Why didn't she like Javier? What was the deal? She had even went as far as to say she didn't think her and Javier should be together... it made no sense. Sure, Sara had gotten a weird vibe at first, but Javier treated her like a princess, and he was everything she'd ever wanted. They were so in love... so why wasn't it right? Sara shook her head and tried to dismiss Jenny's opinion. Jenny hadn't had that much experience in love anyway.
Later that day, Sara's family stopped by for a few. They crowded around her, chattering quickly and taking in her cozy little apartment.
"You look tired," Stacey said. Sara laughed and nodded. "How are you feeling?" Stacey asked. Sara shrugged and motioned for them to sit down. "I haven't been here in a while," her mom said. "Everything's so adorable." Sara smiled. "You should come up to Eureka more." Sara nodded. "So," Stacey said. "I think all us girls need to go out and do something sometime. We barely see you anymore." Sara smiled and nodded. "Oooh, we should take you to meet some hot guys." Uh. No. Sara shook her head. "Come on, why not?" Stacey asked. Then she remembered. "Ohhh, yeah! Javier! How are things going with him?" Sara grinned and gave a thumbs-up. Her sisters laughed. "You're blushing!" Jenny said. Sara laughed. "Pregnant yet?" her mom asked. Sara laughed and shook her head. "Seriously, do you want kids?" Jenny asked. Sara shrugged. Maybe when the time came... but she was so busy right now. And she also wanted Javier... by himself. Jenny smiled. "You're thinking of him, aren't you?" she asked. Sara blushed and nodded. "Maybe we should get going so they can have some fun," Stacey joked. Sara laughed. Yep. Javier did have a way of making everything more fun.
A half-hour later, Sara crossed the street and opened the door to her favorite cafè, killing time before she met up with Javi. She ordered a latte and opened her laptop, clicking on her documents. She looked over her lyrics for Send Me The Moon. It was still rough, and needed some work. She thought about the song as she sipped her drink. The song represented the incredible, loving sides of a relationship. How she wanted to give the other person the moon. How she wanted to give Javier the moon. But it also represented the darker sides of love.
She clicked by a word and thought for a moment, trying to decide how to improve the lyrics. All she could get out was a sentence, for she couldn't stop thinking of Javier. She laughed, thinking about how crazy it was that a person could feel this way about another person. She walked out, wondering whether he'd mind if she asked him to come over a little earlier. The streetlight didn't do much for the cold darkness, and as she walked, she accidentally bumped into someone. Turns out that someone wasn't a stranger.
Javier grinned. "Hey. Nice to bump into someone so hot." Sara wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him hard. God, how good it felt to be near him. They stood for a moment, arms wrapped around each other, until Sara pulled away and grinned.
"Woah," Javier said. "I take it someone missed me. By the way, these are for you." He pulled out a bouquet of deep red roses and handed them to Sara. "Did I do okay?" he asked. Sara smiled. She nodded and took his hand. They walked until they got to Javier's place, where he invited her in for the night. Or longer. Javier threw his things down and hugged Sara. "So," he said, in that deep, sexy voice Sara adored, "You wanna do anything tonight?" Sara looked into his eyes, as if to say, be with you. He half-smiled and kissed her again, pinning her up against the wall. His touch and the cool feeling of the wall gave her chills, but she was also hot in a very, very good way. "Ya know, sometimes I'm glad you can't talk. Because you can't really resist this." He picked her up and ran around his tiny house, Sara shrieking and laughing. He put her down, only to have Sara get revenge and run around a corner. Javier followed her, but she was quick and disappeared out of sight. "Hey, ninja. Where you at?" he said. Sara didn't say a word. Javier looked in every room, opening doors and even cabinets. Sara laughed. Like, yeah, she'd be in the kitchen cabinet. A few minutes went by, and Javier walked past the closet Sara was in. She saw him through the tiny crack in the door, and jumped out. "Holy shit!" he yelled. Sara laughed and stuck her tounge out at him. He put his hands on her waist, pulling her closer. "You're sneaky as hell. It's sexy," he said. Sara winked and laid her head on his chest. Javier wrapped his arms around her and they swayed softly, Javier singing Sara's favorite song into her ear. It was dark in the room, but it was like a camera with night vision. Focused, though, because they only saw each other. 2 A.M., wrapped up in each other, dancing into each other's heart. The snapshot of a lifetime.
