I heard the shower stop and started brewing some coffee so that there would be a fresh pot ready to have with the protein pancakes and eggs I had just made. A few minutes later Damian made his way through from the bedroom and sat down at the breakfast bar. "Do you feel better after that shower?"

"Yes thank you Mija. Any luck with the flights? I'd like to get going as soon as possible."

"I managed to get the last 2 seats on a flight heading direct to Buffalo later this afternoon, so I was thinking we could have this, pack and get going. Obviously I need a quick shower and to get dressed as well but that won't take me too long. We can always grab some lunch at the airport and spend some time in the shops before our flight. What do you say?" Damian nodded his agreement as he pushed the eggs around his plate with his fork.

What I hadn't told Damian though was that I had only been able to book one room at our chosen hotel, the honeymoon suite. I didn't want Damian overthinking things and after all it was just a room with a king bed and a spa bath in the room. The next 2 hours went by slower than I think either of us would have liked.

Thankfully as soon as we were both ready and packed we were able to text Betty letting her know our plans had changed and then get ourselves to the airport. As Curley was back in town he had offered to take us to the airport so that we didn't need to take the car with us. Raw would be in Buffalo on the Monday night and then we would be back in Florida Tuesday morning as Damian would be appearing on NXT Tuesday evening and Curley had offered to collect us then as well. Luckily the flight from Florida to New York was only 2 and a half hours so we would be in New York by dinner time. What made it even better was that I had managed to get direct flights from Florida to Buffalo Niagara international so we would have minimal driving when we landed.

Once our flight landed in New York Damian's whole demeanour changed. He was more relaxed and not as stressed as he had been in the place we once called the safety of our home. However, this morning it felt more like a prison. Trying to get things ready all the while looking out of the windows scared that we were being watched. To be fair I was scared but I think Damian was gearing up for a fight should the need arise.

We organised a rental once we had landed and started the drive to the hotel. We drove through a lot of new builds just 10 minutes from the airport and I instantly fell in love. "You ok Mija? Looks as though you are daydreaming."

"Nothing just admiring that little house over there. The blue one with the sign outside. It's beautiful and just the home I have always dreamt of out here. Ours is nice don't get me wrong but it's yours and will always feel like yours. Do you know what I mean?"

"I do Mija." Abruptly Damian turned around and pulled into the driveway of the house I was talking about. "Open house on Saturday. All welcome. Do you have plans for Saturday morning Mija?"

I laughed before answering. "No Damian but are we really going to torture me by making me look at a house like this only to fly back to Florida which don't get me wrong I love but...."

"But what Mija? Talk to me."

"I just don't know if I can ever be comfortable there now. It is just me overthinking, don't worry. We don't need to come to the open house. It is nice but it isn't us is it?"

"Why isn't it? I grew up in New York this to me is home. Here and Dorado are home to me. Why couldn't it be home for our family?" Damian turned the car off and got out. I hastily followed after him wondering what he was doing.

"Damian what are you doing? Where are you going?" I shouted after him as he approached the empty house and started looking through the windows. "You can't just start looking through windows."

"It's nice Mija. Want to take a look?" I allowed my curiosity to get the best of me and stood next to Damian looking in and viewing the spacious open plan downstairs. "It's nice isn't it? Can you imagine us in there sat at the breakfast bar, doors to the backyard wide open and the kids running in and out."

"Kids now is it? Thought you had only considered the one."

"That was until...Never mind. One? Three? Who's counting?" We carried on looking through the windows and were able to view the large backyard. Each inch we saw made me want it more. "Come on then Mija, I think we should get to the hotel. We can discuss the open house later."

"You're right we do need to get to the hotel and get settled and there is no point. It will just torture me if we come back, I love it too much." I giggled nervously and made my way back to the car while Damian slowly walked back to the driver's side placing something in his pocket as he did so.

DAMIAN'S POV

Sophie's face lit up when we were looking into the empty house and talking about kids. There was almost a sadness in her eyes when she was talking about going back to Florida. I made a promise that I was going to protect her and make sure she felt safe no matter the cost.

As we made our way back to the car I made sure to slip a card for the realtor into my pocket hoping that Sophie wouldn't notice. Maybe there was no need for the open house on Saturday if I could get 5 minutes beforehand to sort things.
