Rhea came back through with the pancakes and we sat together in silence eating breakfast when Buddy came back through from the bedroom. "I spoke to Damian, I'm going to go ahead and grab some boxes and go over and help him pack."
I shiftily looked from Buddy to Rhea and I saw Rhea's brows furrow in confusion. We said our goodbyes and Buddy grabbed a few pancakes off of the pile and left. Once Buddy left the questions started. "Why is Damian packing? Surely you guys need to find another place in Florida before you start packing. Are you putting your stuff back in storage? What's going on?"
I took a deep breath and started explaining. "So obviously you know why we went to Buffalo early?" Rhea nodded. "Well when we were driving from the airport to the hotel I saw a little house for sale in a gorgeous neighbourhood. So pretty, perfect house, great garden for kids, 10 minutes from the airport for us so we can always get home quickly. There was an open house on the Saturday but we didn't need to go. Damian saw how much I loved it and how much I fell in love with the City and he bought it. We're moving to New York. I'm sorry, I wanted to tell you when the time was right. Do you hate me?"
"Of course I don't hate you. I'm going to miss having you down the road but I can understand why you are leaving. Why didn't you tell me last night when we were in Buffalo?"
"It just hasn't felt real yet. We have signed the papers and now we are just waiting on everything being finalised so we can get the keys. It's the sort of house I have always dreamt of having, a proper little family home and it feels like home unlike here. As you know I came here because I felt I had too and not because I wanted too but New York just feels right. Damian grew up there and it just feels right for us, for our future."
Rhea listened and allowed me to waffle before talking. "I'm sad to see you go but I am not going to be mad at you for finally being happy and being with someone you love and who loves you and treats you the way that you deserve to be treated. I can see how right the both of you are for each other. Are you really both already talking about kids though? After only a few months."
"Not right now but in the future. I don't want to be a geriatric Mum and I am in my 30's now and Damian is in his 40's we aren't getting any younger and I think it will just be a case of it happens when it happens. Plus unlike you guys in the ring I can carry on working on the road."
Rhea and I spent the next few hours chatting about our futures and planning trips for her to come to Buffalo as often as she could and although I was loving spending time with her I couldn't help but worry about Damian and what it was that he was doing.
It had been 5 hours since Buddy had left and it was almost time for Rhea and I to start getting ready for work. I panicked as I couldn't get hold of Damian still when Rhea's phone rang. Once she had hung up she filled me in on a few things. "Right we need to get going. Damian is going to meet us at the arena for NXT tonight and we need to meet him there. He has said that he is ok but you need to stay calm and he will explain everything but it isn't as bad as it looks."
I could feel myself starting to hyperventilate and panic slightly at Rhea's words. Why wasn't Damian coming here? Why hadn't he rang me? What wasn't as bad as it looked? Why did it feel as though no one was telling me anything?
DAMIAN'S POV
Once the police had bundled a wailing and bubbling Dylan into the back of their car, Buddy agreed to drive me to the station so that we could both give them our statements. It was taking a little longer than we had anticipated and my phone had now died so Buddy agreed that he would contact Rhea and Sophie and tell them to meet me at work.
I just hoped that the pictures and our statements were enough to keep that jerk behind bars and away from Sophie. At least long enough for me to be able to safely get her to Buffalo.
