Damian left us and Ricky wasted no time in getting me to work. We did a light warm up and within no time Ricky was teaching me some basic yet effective self defence moves. As much as I hated to admit it I shocked myself with just how much I was enjoying learning and in no time I was really getting the hang of things but I needed answers. "So Ricky, where exactly is it that Damian has gone?"

"Don't know, he said last night he had a few errands to run to do with work and thought he would get them sorted while you were busy so it must be to do with that. Anyway back to focussing on this. Distraction for one minute will cause you pain, keep breathing, don't lose focus."

I felt as though I was a naughty school child who had just been told off for talking in class. I did as I was told though and even managed to land a few of the moves on Ricky. It shocked when not much later Damian walked through the door with a very pleased grin on his face. He looked over at Ricky and nodded to which Ricky nodded back. When Ricky was distracted I took my chance and tripped him.

Ricky jumped back up and bowed to me. "Got to hand it to you Sophie, you are a natural. Don't think you have anything to worry about with her D. She has picked things up quick and I have to point out that I think at one point she was even smiling with enjoyment."

"I would be lying if I said that it was terrible and not something I would want to do more of. It was fun trying to kick your ass even if I did land on mine a few times in the beginning. Did you get everything sorted that you needed too babe?"

"Yeah everything and more. Shall we get a move on and go grab some lunch? I know Ricky said he had a class at 2 so I promised him we would have left by then. I saw a little bagel bakery around the corner."

"Sounds great. Thank you so much Ricky for taking the time to teach me. I hope to see you again soon."

"I am sure I will be seeing you again in no time Soph." Ricky grinned as he spoke and I couldn't help but feel that he knew something I didn't. He and Damian said their goodbyes and we left to make our way to the Bagel bakery.

"So what exactly was it that you were up too this morning then Papi? Are you going to tell me? I did ask Ricky but he told me that it was some work stuff."

"You know just a few things I needed to do on Monday but I thought rather than rushing around I would get them done now so I could get out of your way and you could concentrate. Nothing important. Don't you worry." Damian was still grinning and I still couldn't help but think that something was going on that I was not privy too.

"Ok Papi, did you manage to get everything sorted that you needed too?" Damian nodded and before I could try and ask anymore we arrived at the bagel bakery. It was a quaint little place with a few chairs and tables both outside and inside as well as counters full of different bagels and other baked goods. We ordered and sat outside enjoying our lunch. "This is nice isn't it? I have to say though this is something I could get used too."

"Eating bagels Mija?"

"No. Sitting in Buffalo enjoying a freshly baked bagel knowing that no one negatively knows us. People know you and they say hi and it's friendly and not just because they want an autograph but because they genuinely just want to be polite. That little house from yesterday is within walking distance of here as well and it just feels homely." I felt myself starting to feel a little sorrowful and guilty. Florida was lovely and I appreciated the life that we had built together there but it no longer felt right but I couldn't ask Damian to up sticks and move.

"Can you see yourself living here then Mija?" I nodded while thoughtfully looking around and taking in our surroundings. "Never say never Mija. It is amazing how things can change and how life can throw you a curveball. Why don't we go to the open house tomorrow? It isn't like we have to buy it, we can just look for the future." I nodded again and continued eating. The rest of our lunch was eaten in silence but Damian's grin did not drop once.

DAMIAN'S POV

Sophie was asking a lot of questions and I knew she was suspicious of my behaviour but I just had to keep her guessing until the morning. It was good to do a little digging and to find out exactly how she felt about New York though. It certainly cemented in me that I was doing the right thing for her, for us, for our future.
