I was overjoyed to have everyone I loved around me, even despite the unpleasant circumstances we were all here for.

"I can't believe you're here right now!" I exclaim, wrapping my arms tightly around my best friend.

"It's thanks to me... well, and Scar, that any of us are here right now. As soon as she told me what her mate told her, I rushed over to your father's house, but it was already too late." Onyx explains, a frown pulling at his lips.

"Hey, it's okay. Your all here now." I smile encouragingly.

"Is Scar here too?" I ask, but he shakes his head.

"They stayed back. It's not safe for her mate to return right now." he replies, and I nod my head in understanding.

"Well, I'm really thankful to you both. If you guys hadn't arrived as fast as you did, who knows where I would be right now." I state, but he doesn't smile.

"You're still in a shitty situation." he retorts, and I give him a small shrug.

"It could be a lot worse and by morning things will be fine." I remind him, just as Crimson appears next to us.

"Sorry to interrupt, but I brought you a drink. You should drink it all... quickly." she says softly, passing me a small glass.

I look at her quizzingly, before slamming it back.

"It will help you get through your... ceremony... without any issues." she says, and I smile gratefully.

"Thank you, Crim." I say, pulling her into a tight hug.

"Anything to help, kitten." she smiles.

"Between us though, I think Lucien could use a couple moments with you. He's been really struggling with everything that's been going on." she tells me, and I frown.

"I'll go to him now, thanks for telling me." I reply, giving her and Onyx one last hug before going and finding him.

I find him by the bar with Damian and Beau having a drink.

"Hey, Wolfie. Want to take a little walk with me?" I ask, grabbing his arm gently to get his attention.

"Of course." he grins, he slams back his glass before taking my hand and letting me guide him away.

We walk through crowds of people before making our way over to the elven garden just off to the side of the party where thankfully no one else is around.

"How are you doing?" I ask him softly, as we slow our pace.

"Shouldn't I be asking you that?" he retorts playfully.

I stop in my tracks and turn towards him.

"Overall, I'm doing fine. Now tell me, how are you?" I state, as I take both his hands in me and look up at him.

"I'm... managing." he replies, trying to be cool.

"I know your struggling, Luce. You're always more sensitive when it comes to me, compared to the others. Your more protective, possessive, attentive and I would even say a bit jealous of others at times. Why is that?" I ask.

"There is a reason, but now is not the time or place for this conversation." he replies simply, making me roll my eyes in response.

"There's never going to be a right time or place at the rate things keep going. Let's just rip the band aid off." I retort, no longer wanting to do the run around.

He lets out a long sigh as he nervously runs his hands through his hair, clearly contemplating what he should say.

"Please, Lucien. Just let it out already." I say, in a softer tone.
