Four Years Ago
11/7Dread. That was all anyone felt whenever the teachers spoke the words 'your parents will be here shortly'. Sitting in the hallways with their heads down were some of the unlikely set of students as well as a teacher staring down at them to keep them from doing anything they shouldn't. No one knew what happened outside of the obvious; a set of delinquents picking on a student, should be a clear-cut case, what ended up happening instead? A strange outage for one, but also...the glass in the windows shattered and ended up cutting said attackers. That was weird beyond belief.
The phone call went as well as anyone would expect; it's what led to the doom and gloom feeling as the seconds ticked by. Carefully, one of the boys, a black-haired boy with green eyes, inched close to the boy with auburn hair and hazel eyes before lowering his voice and gently nudging him to get his attention. "Are you alright?" he asked.
The auburn-haired boy nodded a little bit. "I guess so..."
Seeing that his answer was still a little hesitant, the black-haired boy decided to break the tension and held his hand out. "Um, I'm Harry, by the way. What's your name?" He asked.
The auburn-haired boy smiled a bit and shook his hand. Yes, they knew each other's names from the class roll call, but it was nice to actually introduce themselves. "Chrysanthos Lindsay. You can call me Chrys if you like," he answered. "I'm a little nervous... Everyone knows it almost never ends well when parents are called. How do you think your relatives will react to this?" Chrys asked curiously, tilting his head a bit.
Harry shrugged, looking more and more nervous the more he thought about it. "I'm not sure, actually. I mean, they don't really like it when 'freaky' things like this happen around me, so I don't think they'll be too pleased..."
The boy next to Harry, a pudgier one with messy dark hair, looked over at Harry. "Okay, but you weren't the cause of this one. We keep our mouths shut and stick to one story and we're fine."
Harry looked over with a light annoyed expression. "Dudley, they're going to find out even if we didn't say anything. You know Aunt Petunia has this uncanny ability to detect a lie from a mile away."
Things started to piece together for Chrys; he had seen Dudley and his crew roughhousing a bit, but nothing serious ever came from their strange way of playing - which was usually chasing each other like werewolves and pouncing like it was American football. He honestly didn't know that Harry and Dudley were cousins and were just strange friends with the way they were on the playgrounds.
"So...your eyes." Dudley started off looking at Chrys and ignoring Harry's logical side. "They're kind of glowing, what's up with that?"
Of course, it was always the eye question. Chrys sighed and leaned back into the chair, "They always do that depending on the lighting...my uncle made the joke that I stole the sun's light when I was born because of it."
That was the end of the conversation; the three boys fell into silence again as the door to the school opened and some well-dressed individuals walked in. A man walked up to the teacher and showed a badge to her. The teacher just gave a nod as the man approached Chrys, he knelt down and spoke softly to him; he was pretty tall, had a round face and scrubby brown beard and dark brown eyes.
