{Rabbits can purr, did you know that??}
[Panda: Lori Bunny I am going to bop you for not doing picking someone before I uploaded this]
{I SOWWY TwT! For reference, we do the writing on a doc before putting the finished writing on A03 where I get the words to put them here, and I hadn't looked on the doc for a bit before this was published so I didn't see that I had to pick a friend for my bunny child to have back in Japan that she knows and misses while she's in a whole other state/country. If you recognize who that said friend is you get a cookie : D whichever one you want and free of any allergens you may have. Also, in case anyone forgets, I have full permission from Panda to post this story here, so don't come after me for it}
In the comfy confines of the Hufflepuff dorm, all the new 1st years were talking, mingling and introducing themselves. For the most part, it was nice to see the new freshies talking. Hikari walked into the common room of Hufflepuff, only to be greeted by a fellow third-year; Lucielle. Her dark eyes lit up with excitement that matched her smile.
"Ay ay Kari, got some new 1st years, wanna greet them? One of them is shy from what I've seen." Lucielle pointed to the student in question. "I think you're going to need to bring up the big sister charm for her."
Sure enough, when Hikari looked over at a small group of the first years, there was one who seemed intent on hiding away in a corner while looking around anxiously. Hikari had to go through the names from the sorting ceremony and nodded after remembering her name, Izanami.
Luckily, as Lucielle pointed out, Hikari knew how to handle small children. Carefully, she approached the small child. "First day jitters?" she asked as she sat across from her.
Izanami flinched at the unfamiliar voice speaking to her but ultimately nodded, trying to make eye contact. "Y-Yes... I- I barely know anyone h-here." she started to pet her new Hufflepuff tie out of nerves. "I-I-I mean, I know someone...B-But I-I think h-he's in a-another house."
Oh dear lord, this one was precious for sure. Hikari nodded and slowly reached her hand out, taking her hand into hers. "I get that feeling. I felt the same when I first arrived at Hogwarts." She chuckled, remembering the memory of her arrival. "It'll get better over time, promise."
Hikari could see that she had calmed down a bit, and she was glad. She dug into her pockets and pulled out a small wrapped candy. She handed it to the first year. "Here, have a caramel. No magic in them, sorry, but at least it's a sweet treat."
The girl hesitantly took the candy and popped it into her mouth. In a few seconds, she was smiling, "T-Thank you so much!"
"No problem." She then chuckled, "Where are my manners? My name is Hikari Kirimoto. I'm from Japan," she introduced herself.
"Y-You're from Japan too?" Izanami's ruby eyes lit up.
"Yeah. I'm guessing from that reaction that you're also from Japan."
She nodded, "Y-Yes! My n-name is I-Izanami H-Hanako. It's nice to m-meet you, Kirimoto-senpai!" Izanami gave Hikari a shy but happy smile. Her ribbon seemed to move a little, but that could have been a trick of the light. She acted almost like a rabbit too, which was even more adorable.
Yep. Hikari could tell that this little bunny badger was going to win the hearts of a lot of people in the school, precious child. Hikari smiled at Izanami. "Please, just call me Hikari. Being called 'senpai' makes me feel so old."
"A-Are you sure??" she asked. She didn't want to seem rude considering they just met.
"I'm sure." The more she looked at her, the more she was reminded of her friend's brother, the thought of her friend brought her to staring into a distance with a fond expression.
