Cold but warm

Neighbours.

Aurora smiled as she entered her brand revived room, it is just perfect, she thought. She turned around to face her brother who was smiling at her as she hugged him tightly. "Thank you so much brother," she said squeezing the life out of him."I think you should be thanking Dad, not me. But you are welcome," he said hugging her back. Aurora retreated from the hug with a frown on her face as she immediately pouted."I don't want to thank him, it was your idea that we moved not his." She sighed. She continued,  "Besides you are the one who paid most of the transport money to travel." She stated. Her brother sanded her hair gently. "Okay if you say so, you can start unpacking unless the fruits you brought along would get spoilt." Aurora's smile returned as she bent down to start unpacking while her brother went to unpack his.

Aurora was bored to death after she had finished unpacking. She had also explored the house to its very depth, washed the fruits she bought along, kept them in the fridge and helped her brother unpack. Now she was just laying on the couch staring at the cracked ceiling.

Immediately she jumped up with a brilliant idea, "I am gonna visit the neighbours." She ran upstairs to her brother's room to find him chatting with his girlfriend."Aiden, I am gonna visit the neighbours." She announced. "Are you sure? The last time you tried to talk to someone new, you had a panic attack." He said with his eyes still focused on his phone."That was before." She rolled her eyeballs. "The past is in the past."

"You do whatever you want, but don't collapse when they make a statement." Aurora nodded running downstairs to the door.  Wearing her slippers,  she adjusted her wrinkled dress as she walked up to her neighbour's door. Knock knock!  She hit the door with her knuckles. "Coming!!" There was an indistinct voice coming from inside before a beautiful woman in her late 30s opened the door.  She looked at Aurora from head to toe before smiling.

"Finally," She sees the woman pursed her lips, her green eyes scanning her once more.  "Jay have a girlfriend that is not a prostitute." She said looking behind her. Aurora was dumbfounded. "Prostitute?" She knows what that meant since her father had previously called her that before but that didn't help the confusion that bottled up in her chest. "Girlfriend? Mum, I didn't bring any girl over!" A boy's voice said behind her coming towards the door. The confused  woman turned back to face Aurora who was also as confused  as she was."Then who is this beautiful well-dressed lady over here?"She asked. Aurora took the compliment and used the opportunity to introduce herself."Hello, I am Aurora and I am your new neighbour."

Aurora said with a smile. The woman seems to have realized her mistake and a small blush made its way to her pale cheeks. "Oh, I am so sorry for what I said, please come in." The woman said, her cheeks red from embarrassment. Aurora scanned the living room as she walked in. Aurora takes the moment to scan the beautiful house before her eyes landed on the boy who she presumed was Jay. 

"Hi." She stretch out her hand for a shake but before he could accept the shake,  a feels the hard impact of another body hit her with full force.  Before she could register what happened, she hears the body speaks. 

"Hi, I am Layla and I am 16 just like you, right?"She asked."Yes I am 16 and it's very nice to meet you" Aurora replied. Aurora couldn't fathom how the unknown girl knew her age but she didn't want to appear rude. 

"Omg!, you are my dream come true, now I have so many things to tell you, like my fetishes my crush and let me not tell you how many pimples I have busted yesterday," Layla said leading Aurora upstairs to her room. Aurora just smiled feeling relieved.

"Jay you have to date her"
