It was a beautiful day. Everything was back to normal, Bird singing on the trees, ants progressing with their home, and most of all, the smell of freshly baked cookies from the oven.
She got off her bed stretching her hands while yawning, her nose immediately caught the smell of the cookies, she sniffed in the fantastic scent as she followed the scent to the kitchen.
"Hey," Aiden called out to her while wiping his hands on the apron he was wearing. "I guess the scent woke you up, right?" he asked with a smile. She was already sitting on the dining chair, munching on the cookies. She nodded her head up and down, completely lost in the taste of the cookies. At this point, she couldn't think or say anything properly; the cookies had her complete attention.
He touched her bandaged neck gently and asked, "Does it still hurt?" She shivered at the unexpected touch but looked up to see her worried-faced brother. "I'm alright," she replied before returning to eating her cookies. Her brother smiled at her adorableness.
Aurora devoured the entire bowl of cookies before heading upstairs to freshen up. As she descended the stairs, she found her brother watching her favourite show and confidently joined him. "It's been too long since we've had some quality time alone," she thought to herself.
As they were halfway into the movie, there came a sudden knock on the door. Aurora's brother, who was sitting on the other couch, had sweat all over his forehead, which made her worry. She couldn't help but wonder, "Do you expect anyone today?" in a concerned tone.
She walked over to open the door since her brother wasn't showing any sign he was going to do it. She opened the door to face Layla with the strictest face ever.
"You know it was a beautiful day before you came," Aurora stated.
"Sorry." Layla apologized.
Aurora blurted out in shock, "What!" Layla repeated, "I said I am sorry." A small smile appeared on Aurora's face - she had been waiting to hear that for so long. She took a deep breath and pulled Layla into a big hug. "Wanna stay for the movies and cookies?" Aurora asked her still in the hug.
"Oh, cookies! Where are they?" Layla asked, stepping back from the hug to scan the house for any sign of them.
"Oops, sorry that might be in my belly." Aurora joked making the three of them bust out laughing.
