Chapter 6

THOMPSON'S POV

I can't believe I almost screw this up. Shit. That was close. Well one subject down. Four more to go.

Suddenly my phone rang, it was John.
"What's up bro?" Said John "How's your hangover?".
"I feel like absolute shit bro, and on top of that today was my session with Mary". I said rubbing my eyes with one hand and driving with the other.
"Oh yeah, haha how did that go?".
"At first I almost screw it up because I wasn't paying attention but after she got angry at me and scolded at me everything went pretty smooth".
"HAHAHAHA YOU GOT SCOLDED AT BY THE GIRL YOU BULLIED".

That made me angry. Because after all I had made her go through she willingly wanted to help me and it wasn't like she was going to get anything in return.
"Shut the fuck up bro. Plus she was right. You know I have to make this work if I don't want to end up dead". I said angrily.
"Damn bro, I'm sorry don't get all worked up about it. It was just a joke".
"Well, maybe you should stop joking around about her because she is a great girl".
"Wow wow wow, wait who are you and what did you do with Thompson". John said with a chuckle.
"Ugh just shut up ok? I have to go anyway. Bye". And with that I hung up.

"Where were you?". Asked my dad after he arrived.
"I was at a friend's place". I replied looking at my phone.
My dad snatched the device out of my grasp, "When I speak to you you look at me you piece of shit".
A slap
"Yes father, I'm sorry". I said quickly looking up from the floor at my dad.
"Who is that friend of yours?".
"She's the girl who is going to tutor me".
He grumbled in response and with that he finally left me alone.

After dinner, my little sister Rose came into my room with tears running down her cheeks.

"Where did he hit you this time?" I asked dropping my control and pausing my video game.
"It h-hurts s-so much Sean". She sobbed while pointing at her ribs.
"Mother fucker he broke your ribs". I murmured to her while I checked her sides only to see all her left side red and weird.
"Hey Rosie, look at me princess, I need you to stop crying or he is going to come. I'll take you to a friends house so she can help us ok?". I said trying to calm her down and drying her tears at the same time.

So I called my only "friend" that is actually smart and could help me.
And that person was
Mary.

MARY'S POV

"Nah, come on what the hell is that?" I asked my brother Bruce.
We were playing chess and he had made a not so valid move when suddenly my phone rang.

What the hell is he doing calling me so late?

With a frown on my face and a "what happened?" On the background from my brother I answered the phone.
"Hello?"
"Mary I need your help" he said panting
"A-Are you ok?" I asked starting to get concerned. Because I know what goes down on his household. I know that his dad is not a good one.
"I'm ok, but my little sister is not".
Shit.
"Can we go to your place?".
"Sure, what happened to her?".
While he started explaining everything to me I went to look for my dad and told him what was happening.
"Wait, why aren't you going to a hospital?". I asked him confused ( and also because my dad had asked me the same thing)
"I can't go to a hospital because if I go there he's going to know and he will beat all of us up for exposing him".

Oh my god.
Wait WHAT!

I explained this to my dad and he accepted to help them.
"How far away are you from my house?"
"I'm just around the block". As soon as he finished that sentence I heard a car outside my house and ran to open the door.
"She is in so much pain". He had his little sister in his arms and she was crying so loudly my heart broke for her.

My dad came running down the stairs to check her.
"Hey beautiful, what's your name?" My dad asked her trying to calm her down while he started to check her vitals.
"R-Rose but everyb-body calls m-me Rosie". Little Rosie said still sobbing and in shock
"Hey Rosie I'm Bruce". My dad said lifting her shirt up to check her ribs.
"Ok Rosie, I'm going to touch your ribs because I need to see how things are".
"No, please, don't it hurts so much". She said starting to cry again.

My dad looked at Thompson and said to him
"I'm gonna need some tomographies to see what's going on. It'll be the best way to see if everything is ok. And don't worry about your dad knowing, I'll pay for them".
"No Dr. please don't do that there's no need".
"We need them to see how she is. If I don't do this she will only suffer more".
"Ok Dr.Gray, do whatever you need to do".

We went to the hospital and while we were waiting for my dad to do the tomography I sat next to Sean in the waiting area. He had his hands covering his face and he looked tired and scared.
"Hey", I said sitting down next to him.
"Hi", He said taking his hand away from his face.
"Everything is going to be ok. I promise. Do you want a hug?" He sure looked like he needed one.
"Yes please". That actually took me by surprise. We stood up and I hugged him for what seemed so long.
"Thank you for helping me". He whispered in my ear.
"Of course, I could never let a little girl suffer like that".
We heard some steps coming towards us and we broke the hug.
"Ok, I have the results now so I'll show you.
Here we can see that she has two broken ribs which means she's going to have to be on full rest and she won't be able to move for two weeks".
"Shit" Sean said pulling his hair.
"What? What's wrong?" I asked him with a frown.
"I can't just have her like that, dad will know we went for help".
"Hey, it's ok, I'll take care of her ok?" I told him
"Where, tell me where the fuck are you going to do that? At your house? At mine?".
"Sean, don't talk to me like that I'm only trying to help". I said taking a deep breath and closing my eyes.
"My parents have an apartment, we can go there and I'll take care of her there. Just tell your dad that she's visiting some close relative or something and you can visit her and we can have our sessions there ok? It'll be fine". I tried to calm him down and it surprisingly worked.
"Ok, ok, we can do that".

And so I took Rosie to the apartment for what would be two fun/different/interesting weeks.
