------------------------------------------------------------------
"Canada! Canada! You have free healthcare, right?" Kadi exclaimed as she rushed into our room and grabbed Canada's arm. We were in the middle of a study date and both jumped at the sudden intrusion.
"U-Uhm, yes?" Canada replied, unsure of where she was going with this.
"Then that means you're a good doctor, right?"
"Y-Yes, I suppose so..."
"Good, because my child needs you. They'll die if you don't help!"
We both stood up, panicking. "What happened? Which one? Is it Phoenix?"
"No, he's fine. I just need your help because I'm giving birth~"
"WHAT?" both Canada and I shrieked in unison.
------------------------------------------
"Scotland, you aren't going to help?" I asked the redhaired man sitting beside me. No, we weren't in a hospital, in case you were wondering. We were in Kadi's dorm room, sitting on her bed and waiting outside of the sound-proofed bathroom. Inside were three people (soon to be five): Kadi, Canada, and England.
"Bloody hell, why am I being forced into this?" he had asked as Scotland dragged him to the room.
"Because you have good healthcare, so she wants your help."
"She wants my help? That little-" He stopped midsentence because of the glare Scotland shot him. England sighed and nodded. "Alright, fine. I'll help. Is anyone else there besides Kadi?"
"Canada, I think."
"Who?"
Scotland shook his head nervously, biting his lower lip when he wasn't taking a drag from his cigar. "No way, lassie, I'm much too nervous for that."
"It's understandable, although why don't you at least go hold her hand or something?"
He thought about it, and then stood, putting out his cigar in the ashtray by the door. "Alright, nothing to it, aye?"
"Aye," I replied, smiling.
~~~
Canada came out not twenty minutes later, looking slightly traumatized. "She didn't even scream... It was over in twenty minutes... That was so weird..."
"Hey!" I said in greeting. "Are you gonna be okay?"
"Y-Yeah, I'm fine, eh," Canada replied, sitting next to me and pulling me into a hug. "That was just a lot."
"So, it was over quickly? That's good," I said, pulling back enough to look into his face. "Twenty minutes? Wow, that's incredible. Sounds like it was easy. How are the babies?"
"The babies are healthy, England's finishing up in there right now. Do you want to see them?"
I nodded excitedly, and he took my hand, leading me to the door and opening it. Inside, Kadi was lying on a hospital bed and was clothed in a nightgown. Scotland was shaking his hand out as if it was hurt, and England was grumbling to himself while Kadi held her newborns.
"Hey, how are you feeling?" I asked while standing next to Kadi. The two girls were adorable and asleep for the moment.
"I'm great," Kadi replied. "Easiest birth ever."
"Even with twins?"
"Yeah. Phoenix's birth was like giving birth to knives, and Boise and Vale weren't much different."
"Is it because they're countries?"
"Probably. Wanna hooold one?" Kadi asked, sitting up a little straighter.
I squealed and took one of the tiny babies, pulling the blanket away from her face just a little bit to see her better. "She's so adorable... They both are. And what's her name?"
"That's Heather Elana. This is Ariani Elisa."
"Hi, Heather," I cooed softly, looking down at the sleeping child in my arms. She blinked slowly and looked up at me with big blue eyes, a toothless grin on her face. I smiled back. "Yes, you're a cutie~" She waved her arms at me, and I blinked in surprise. "Is she supposed to be able to do that so soon?"
"She's a daughter of two countries. She'll grow faster than humans." Scotland came over to Kadi and took his other daughter, his hand now better.
"What was that all about? Did she squeeze your hand so hard it almost broke?" I asked.
"Aye."
"Well, it was expected of me, right?" Kadi replied with a grin. "I was fine, though."
"Are you serious?" I deadpanned.
"Kadi, ya didn't have to break m' hand," Scotland said before cooing in Gaelic over his daughter.
"Oh, I didn't," Kadi said as she put her head back on the pillow and shut her eyes. "Okay, naptime. Don't let any dingoes near the babies."
I laughed and wiggled my finger in front of Heather, grinning when she grabbed the tip in her tiny hand. Canada came up and stood beside us, looking down at the baby. "She's adorable, eh?"
"She'll be a ginger, I can tell," I said, referring to the shock of red hair that matched both newborns. "Gets it from her daddy, hm?"
"Aye, my princesses are gonna look like me," Scotland said happily. "Oi, little brother! Thanks."
"Sure, you're welcome," England said before leaving with a goodbye to the rest of us. It surprised me when he called me Malcolm, and I realized I'd forgotten all about my facade. At least he didn't find out...
~~~
"Where are zhe princesses? I want to see my nieces~!" France said as he came into the bedroom. "Angleterre said zhey were 'ere?"
"Oui!" I said, turning to face him with Heather still in my arms. France floated over and lifted her into his own arms, cooing over her in French. I caught a little, but mostly about her being cute. "She is so precious~"
"Isn't she?" I agreed in an almost-squeal. "I wuv her~ She and her sister are adorable."
"Let's hope they get used to living around so many crazy countries," Canada commented.
"Speak for yourself, Mattie," I shot back jokingly, and he grinned.
"And when are you two going to give zhese angels playmates?" France asked us, and we both blushed scarlet.
"Stop it with the two of us and babies!" I exclaimed.
"Some of us are trying to sleep here," Kadi said testily, and I skedaddle out of there without any further persuasion.
