Kadi's POV~
"Vale, how are you feeling?" I heard Scotland ask of his soon-to-be stepdaughter in the other room. I set the phone down in the cradle and went back over to them.
"I-I'm fine," she replied. Looking at her now, it was so obvious that she was related to Melina. Their eye colors were the same, and even if Vale's hair color was the same as mine (dark chocolate brown) and she was shorter, the similarities were still there. "What happened, though...?"
"We...We don't know, you just collapsed," Allie answered.
"And your vital signs disappeared completely," I added from the doorway.
"Mom... Are you trying to say I was dead?" Vale asked.
"Yeah, that's pretty much what happened. You're a city in Oregon, and Oregon was just killed a couple hours ago. But she came back, and that's why you came back."
Her eyes were wide and somewhat fearful. "The escape clause...?"
Scotland looked confused. "The wha-?"
"It's magic, I'll tell you when I have the time," I replied. "But now we've got to split, and I need you both to help."
"What is it?" he asked seriously.
"I need you two to grab as much medical supplies as you can hold, and then some. I'll find some people to recruit."
"What for, Mom?" Vale inquired.
"We're going to play ambulance for a while," I said with a small smile before leaving my dorm and speed-walking down the halls. Taiwan and South Korea were hanging around and I pulled them along with me, asking if they knew how to fix people up.
"U-Uhm... Yes, I do know some," Taiwan admitted.
"Of course I know how to be a doctor, da ze!" S. Korea proclaimed proudly.
"Fine, good. Stay close to me, got it?"
Ten minutes later~
"Alright, everyone grab onto me," I instructed to the group of countries I'd commandeered. Poland, Lithuania, Taiwan, South Korea, Hungary, Spain, and Romania. Scotland and Vale rejoined us then, dragging Phoenix along as well.
"Bo's watching the girls, Mom," Vale told me. I nodded, noting all the bandages and suture supplies they carried.
"Great, now hang on to me," I said.
"Where are we going?" Phoenix asked.
"Cross-country," I answered, concentrating on my magic. With a quick incantation, we were off. Light surrounded us and a wind picked up, then as one unit we vanished...
...and reappeared in a bloodied, destroyed living room in a state on the other side of the continent. Taiwan shrieked and clapped her hands over her mouth, as did Vale.
"What happened?" Poland asked. "This is, like, totally sick!"
"Pick a person and do what you can to heal them," I ordered, passing out the supplies I'd taken out of my fiancee's arms.
'Wait... That smell! Healing magic, what?' I turned my head and zeroed in on two people, no three people, near the wall. Two were unconscious, the third was frantically fussing over them.
"What did she do, what did she do?" Erika panicked.
"What happened, Erika?" I demanded as I knelt beside her. She looked at me fearfully.
"K-Kadi! Fuck..."
"What did she do?" I said with more force.
"She was trying to get Matthew to wake up, but when he didn't she sort of... screamed and this weird light was rolling off of her. In waves. And she collapsed afterward and hasn't moved since. What did she do?" Erika still looked scared. "Am I gonna die?"
