"Ah... What...?" I murmured as I sat up slowly, putting a hand to my throbbing skull. My fingers came away with red on them, making me gasp and wince at the pain.
"The rain stopped the instant I knocked you out. Lucky you, honestly." Jasper flicked the butt of his cigarette away and rested his arm against his knee. "Don't make too many sudden movements, Kuma's been looking at you like you're a meal for the last twenty minutes."
"Huh?" I said, turning my head. Kuma was lying down not three feet away, his eyes trained on me like a predator watching his prey. Hey, to him I was prey.
The ground under me was still dirt and plant debris, and the trees above stretched tall to the sky. I could still hear the river nearby and saw the cave I'd been hiding in... some time ago.
"How long was I out?" I asked.
"Twenty minutes. You drool in your sleep." Jasper smirked at me as I wiped away the slobber coming out of the corner of my mouth.
"Shut up, why didn't you drag me back to the house?" I demanded. 'Is there any way I could escape from him?'
"There wasn't any reason to take you back just yet. I wanted to get my fun out of this alone time, you know."
"For your sake that had better not be an innuendo," I growled, one hand clenched into a fist and held at my side.
"And the claws are back," he chuckled.
"Shut up! What do you want with me?" This was really grating on my nerves...
"I'm curious. You're so different from Erika, so can you blame me for being curious?"
"Curiosity killed the cat," I sneered.
"Satisfaction brought it back," he shot back without missing a beat. "And I plan on getting my satisfaction, Alice. Make no mistake of that."
"What smoke are you cracking, I swear I don't understand you at all," I said while giving him a hard look. "What satisfaction are you talking about, it'd better not be anything like carnal."
"Heh, curious, Kitty?"
"I told you, stop calling me that!" I yelled, moving to stand. Kuma's deep growl made me think otherwise.
"You'd better stop yelling, people might start thinking things." Jasper stood up and leaned over me while I glared up at him and put my weight on my hands behind me.
"Would you just back up, just a little? Honestly, I'm feeling cramped by you being so close."
"We just might get a lot closer, just a fair warning," he replied, crouching in front of me.
"Quit it," I said as a warning, leaning back from him more.
"Hm... I wonder..." he said to himself, reaching a hand out to my face. I grabbed it quickly and thrust it back.
"Watch the hands, bub, I don't let just anyone touch me." My eyebrows knit together in confusion. What was he trying to do?
"I'm just checking something, calm down," he replied testily, gripping my hands in one of his as he reached around the back of my head.
I twisted my head to the side to get away, for all the good that did. His calloused and scarred hand burrowed in my hair and started fishing around for something, what the hell?
"Quit it, what the hell are you thinking?" I yelped, thrashing violently. My foot lifted and planted solidly in his stomach, pushing him away. Of course, the pain from my headache was left in the dust on the next continent over compared to what came next. He yanked my ahoge, the bastard!
