One Week Later
"You're mad." I asked Lucious from my position beside him in the back seat of the Bentley.
He huffed, jaw slightly flexing, he swallowed then looked over in my direction. "No." Was all he bluntly replied then turned his gaze back out towards the bustling city surrounding us. The masculine scent of his fragrant cologne swarming around us while his chest slowly rises and falls in response to his steady breathing.
I smacked my teeth then pursed my lips, while examining his side profile. "Stop lyin'. I know you're mad so just be honest about it Lucious." I snapped back but he remained silent.
We just came from a meeting with the board at the office, they wanted to discuss the success of the twin's party and Empire's upcoming shareholders meeting next week. But towards the tail end of the meeting, they made an unexpected announcement regarding something that they've all been discussing since the night of Mimi's impromptu vote to have Lucious removed as CEO.
"Fine. Be a big ass baby and don't talk to me about it, punk." I snarled in response to my husband's attitude as Jerome continues to guide us towards the house.
Lola's coming home today so we decided to throw her a small little party at Lucious', much to Jamal's objection mind you, but it's the biggest and also the place with the most privacy for us to be able to sit down and finally tell her that Lucious is her father.
Nothing major, just a few of her friends from school, the family, and a couple of Empire Artist that she's cool with like Freda.
I shifted in my seat then rolled my eyes. He inhaled deeply then turn to face me, "Look at me." He uttered. I rolled my eyes yet again and ignored him. "Look at me please, I'm not trying to fight with you today." He offered next in a calm, gentle and sincere tone prompting me to turn in his direction.
His dark grey patterned suit clinging close to his tone chest, the fabric of his crisp white shirt contrasted against his tanned caramel skin on display through the first two open buttons at the top.
Licking his lips, Lu tilted his head to the side and looked into my eyes. "Cooks, I'm not mad okay." He muttered then tossed me a sly grin. "I'm just a little caught off guard but I'm not mad. Why should I be huh?"
My skin tingled a bit when he stroked the side of my face then let his hand come to rest along my chin before chiming back in. "You own just as much of the company as I do and hell, we practically do the same job anyway so, No. I'm not mad. I just have a lot on my mind with everything happening today that's all, but I'm not trying to take it out on you so I apologize if I came off crazy earlier." He replied.
I pursed my lips, then softened my gaze towards him and a smirk eased across my features, "Really Lucious? So, you're really not upset that the board decided to make me Co-Ceo?" I inquired.
He bit down on his lip then leaned down and pecked my own, "Not at all. I'm actually very proud of you and honestly, I can only blame my own self. Me and this big ass cocky mouth you warned me about remember. Guess they think you'll keep it in check, but if I have to share the title then I'd only ever wanna share it with you." He uttered and I chuckled as he pecked my lips again as we continue to drift along the smooth pavement of the streets carrying us.
Lucious slid his hand into mine, kissed the back of it, then averted his gaze back out of the window and stroked his chin with his free hand. My thoughts began to float around within the recesses of my mind because there's so much going on with us right now.
It's been a week since we slept together and No, I haven't moved back into our house with him yet like he requested.
Well not officially anyway, I mean we've been going back and forth between my house and the mansion. The kids moved back in with him full time when the movers arrived, only because the mansion's closer to their school, yet I just wanna be sure that I can truly trust and depend on him this time before I jump back in headfirst.
